Been away from PC hardwares for too long as they are killing my pocket but guess i am too tempted to perform some upgrades.
Just wondering here guys, is the 4870 better than the 3870X2? Do you guys have any links to the comparison between both cards?

QUOTE(pikacu @ Oct 3 2008, 05:55 PM) hell yeah im bac !! 3870x2 better than 4870 w/o AA, but with AA, 4870 beats 3870x2 if im not mistaken. IMO, better take 4870x2 LOL..If money would have fallen from the sky, i would have opted for the 4870x2 as well Anyway, looking into stuff, people are saying that the 4850 is way better than 3870. So, is the 4850 a worthy upgrade from 3870 or should i jump straight to 4870 instead? Looking for one that is value for money. This post has been edited by akachester: Oct 3 2008, 06:01 PM

QUOTE(tech3910 @ Oct 14 2008, 07:41 PM) not much point. 4850 1gb is 4 those who wanna ply games on high resolution wit <= medium setting. Well, many people is talking about Crysis here but i have not tried that before Not my type of games. I am still looking at certain review, and seeing whether its worthy or not. Of course, i wanted it to be at least able to play games at 22" native resolution without any lagginess. My 3870 is able to do that, so i hope the 4850 is able to do it as well. Possibly looking into IceQ4 4850 but still looking whether they have the 1GB edition or not. 4870 is still way off budget right now

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 15 2008, 10:58 AM) http://www.hisdigital.com/html/product_sp.php?id=397This? 625/1986. That's clock stock speed...Or maybe you should wait a bit longer for those OC-ed 1GB? Well, i do not mind whether its the OCed version or not. I could do it myself anyway. But is this available here in Malaysia? And how much would that cost? I am particularly interested in the HIS 4850 IceQ4 though but all i see around is the 512MB edition. Need to test out whether 512 is enough or not though. QUOTE(Nightfalls @ Oct 15 2008, 11:04 AM) WTA - is it ok to plug 4850 into a nForce Chipset Motherboard ??? was planning to buy P5N-D since im budget tight... or is there any recommended motherboard ?? My budget = 600 below Processor = E8400 I dont think you will have any trouble using ATI card on nForce mobo. Tried that before on my previous nForce4. No problem at all. But thats not the 4850.

QUOTE(cloudwan @ Oct 15 2008, 11:17 AM) It should be ok.. Just hope there isn't any incompatibilities prob.. Last time i had used Nforce2 mobo with ATI 9700pro it worked flawlessly.. But after that i had used a NF6100 mobo with an ATI X1600pro everything goes haywire.. Could it be due to the onboard GC that is available on the NF6100? I tried different rotation before, like ATI cards on Nforce Chipset and Nvidia cards on ATI chipset and have yet to face any significant problem though.
