Don't know if anyone attempted this before, can the top exhaust of CM690 be mounted outside instead of inside? Cutting away the plastic bits before the metal mesh on top, will a 25cm thickness fit? Thinking of doing this to gain more space inside the case.
*
cannot bro... tested it... there will be around 1/2 inch clearance problem... plus the placing for the inner fan isnt right too...

@celciuz

this is how i did it...

if u really wanna cut out like i did, the inner fan u have to cut it to the right a lil... around 1-1.5cm to the right... or not the top panel will be blocking...

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

u will actually get alot more space if the fan were not inside your casing and i think its better in term of air flow, coz the hot air is directly blown out this way...

Hmm, I'll start by cutting the plastic parts off first and see what I can do about it. That plastic part feels so soft.. err easy to remove one right? Can just use wire cutter?
*
yup... very easy... use normal "playa" can edi... just found a link in youtube for that brows.gif

i did exactly the same but i dismantle everything and i file it so no sharp edges...

Really "pek cek" trying to remove the metal mesh. Straighten all the hooks but still can't remove it. Do I need to remove the chrome part first? That one I'm still figuring out how to remove -.-
*
u really have to make sure all the hooks are completely straighten... take note there are lil tiny hook around the usb, audio, esata port... if all is straighten then i think shouldnt be a problem bro....

the crome part u want remove or not also can... smile.gif

Wah see urs looks like u manage ur cable very good ar & u mod the case a bit, if compare to mine haiz, sad la for me

Anyways last 2 weeks ago I do some cleaning @ my casing (I didnt have battery to operate my digi cam that y didnt post it up soon all used up by the 360 controller) coz 1 2 install some new fans & ram & a TV tuner I bought
In the process of it I remove my previously install heatsink too which is the CM Sphere becoz way too dirty @ the fan part(wanna go use the air compressor to blow it).

Bellow is the Before & After pic, well guys do give some feedback what else must I do to to the cables, haha

thanks alot mate notworthy.gif

btw, i think u could do a better coz u are using a modular psu... imo there is a few things u need to do...

1. remove those plastic thingy besides your mobo which is use to hold your cables... to me, it will make you think that it is the only way your cable can be manage through that thing.... coz i think to manage your cables, you need to hide them not to show them out in front smile.gif

2. try to route all your cables to the back of the casing... for those very long cable that cannot be route to the back, try hiding them at the side of the casing...
example:
Attached Image

3. do not ever twist your sata cable like that.... it really looks like cacing in a casing laugh.gif

anyway cable management takes up alot of time and effort... for me, i always "try and error" to get the best cable management and im actually still noob in this laugh.gif .... so keep up the good work bro icon_rolleyes.gif

^ hmm.gif , But that cable u tell me too once I close with the side panel d cant see d, haha
& those is use for the side panel fan also, is an On & Off LED fans so need that cable to control it
& i try to put everything @ the back but it like kinda full @ the back of itso that y I route some cable to the front but I think is way better than the previous 1, which the mobo wire is @ the front there, once I move the mobo PSU (24 pin) to the back it seems nicer, haha
*
yup... the 24pin cable is superbly big and its very obvious... so try to route it to the back...

cop

guys....
may i know how long does the 12v (4/8pin) power needs to be to reach the top if routed tru the back of the mobo tray?
cuz i tink i might get myself a cm690 but afraid my cable is too short
im using vantec 550W

tqs
*
imo its advisable to get an extension. coz usually the 4/8 pins cable is not long enough and also those extension only cost around rm10 only at lyp.
