ok, my question is:-

If i upgrade 4gb 800mhz, can i use this laptop with vista x64??How is the performance than vista x32? correct me if i'm wrong..B4 i make a upgrading of this laptop...

BTW, I still need you to clarify this. 
What do you mean by DVD's from other companies?    Is it Compaq HP recovery disk produced by other company or;
other companies = other laptop brand/manufacturer eg: DELL, TOSHIBA, SONY etc..

I have tried it using my Windows Vista Home Premium DVD but have no luck.

I have to accept that Compaq didn't provide the option to select software/application to install during recovery process. Even in advanced option I couldn't find it. 

Now I have to uninstall manually all the 60 days trial application like Norton Internet Security and Microsoft Office 2007. I hate to do that because I prefer a clean install of Windows Vista.    Even though it disappear from my Program Files, I still feel that some files left somewhere. Hahaha.. weird ha? Can you feel me?
