TESCO are selling those for RM1499. It's a CQ40-128AU I believe. What's the catch from Astro?

Oh and the promotion for that laptop at Tesco ends today.
It's a really good deal. Give Vista a shot.

Well the answer for the best CQ40 model to fit your budget depends on what you're gonna do mostly with the notebook. As you probably know the difference between these two is just the OS. One comes with FreeDOS, the other comes with Vista Home Premium.

Anyways without waiting for your answer I'm gonna say get the 133 or 134AX.
Use the balance to upgrade the RAM. thumbup.gif

well im into medium gaming
i would love to play new games such as fallout or starcraft but using laptops it would cost a fortune
better save money to buy a decent gaming rig
now only i noticed the difference between those 133 and 134ax
thinking of buying them end of this month
*
Then the CQ40-133/134AX is your best bet for RM2500 budget.

133AX= RM2099
134AX= RM2299

Whichever you choose, you'd still have enough to buy 2 sticks of 2GB DDR2 800.

btw the price of DDR2 has increased. You can no longer get a 2GB DDR2 800 sodimm for RM50 - 60. sweat.gif

Check the date. Does it say '2ND week of January 2009'?
The viewnet pricelist that I checked is dated 10-1-2009. In other words, today's pricelist. tongue.gif

RM76 for 800, RM72 for 667. It's a worldwide increase, as mentioned in one thread in the hardware section.

Yeah that's the standard retail price. Two days offer... what a load of bull. Ask him to open HP's website and see the price.

Er... I think you meant to say it shows 3GB instead of 4GB?
I guess you're using 32 bit Windows?

How many dead pixels? Normally they will only entertain your claim if you have about 7 dead pixels or so... I believe this is the standard.

The installation process is simple, the drivers are all there for the taking.
The only thing you should be concerned about is the cost. You'd have to fork out another RM700+ or so for a 64 bit Vista.
If you wanna go to the dark side there's always a way to not pay for what appears to be a legit copy of Vista 64... but you'd have to find that path by yourself. tongue.gif

Anyways just stick to your genuine copy since you paid for it.

it states the maximum score is 7.9. btw are u sure the max score for vista is 5.9? coz i believe i have seen(or at least read) some pc scores more than 6?
You can actually get a fake score by tweaking some registry settings. There's even a guide on how to do this in the Essential Reviews and Guide section.

No need to reconfirm because many of us here have installed 2 sticks of 2GB DDR2800. To believe or not to believe, the prerogative is yours. smile.gif
Even their brochure is misleading. (stated as 2GB max instead of 4GB)

Hello CQ40 series user..  notworthy.gif

I just bought CQ40-134AX for RM2299 at LYP two days ago.  rclxm9.gif  I followed this thread from the first page and without hesitate I bought it although there was an issue with the heat. Since I have a CQ40-134AX, as you all know it comes bundled with Windows Vista Home Premium and preinstalled with other software.

So here is my question on my first post  tongue.gif

Is there any option to perform a recovery without installing the 3rd party software like Norton Internet Security and all other craps that comes with it?  hmm.gif

Can I use my own Windows Vista Home Premium DVD and then use the CD-Key that can be found below the notebook in order to install the Windows Vista Home Premium?  hmm.gif

Thank you very much. I look forward to hearing your response.

how to do rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
i try flip both RAM
but still the same
icon_question.gif

'flip' as in you switched the slots?
Have you tried one stick at a time? As in put only 1 stick on 1 slot. Try on both.
If both works perfectly, I guess the maximum supported memory is INDEED 2GB as advertised by HP, which is not the case for 125/26ax and 133/34ax. The said models are advertised as '2GB max memory' but in reality it's '4GB max memory'.

btw guys I noticed that the CQ45 series are no longer available in HP Malaysia's online store. What's up with that?

Performance wise the P8400 beats the AMD hands down.
Those links you gave leads to a 'page not found'.

Mod the driver using Mobility Modder.

yes, but clearly it is a rip off. processor-wise, i think no issue but hdd is smaller, so by right the price should be less than that.

Yup you are right, HP is selling it for RM1999. The price on their website is not updated though.

I am looking at CQ40-133/134AX model. After browsing all the comments in this CQ40 forum, I notice that this CQ model laptop can get overheated fast. Furthermore these two models using AMD processor. I plan to use this laptop for Photoshop and some light gaming i.e strategy and action games i.e RA3, upcoming Diablo3 etc. Do you see any lag? Is the graphic really bad when change to low setting? How about Photoshop?

Also, I notice the CQ45 cannot be seen in the HP website. Could that be due to the heat issue that HP stop offering this model. The reason for looking at this model is that the processor use is P7350(lower power consumption) which may help on the heat problem but turn out contradictory as well as having dedicated graphic card for intel processor. There is a review that I found and only showing 3 star.
