It has been mentioned several times in this thread, yes it can run 4GB.

Do you have problems with Linux such as drivers and settings?
*
It was particularly easy with Ubuntu; just tick the check boxes for each "Restricted Driver" (ATI and Broadcom Wireless in this case), it will download (via wired network), install, restart, voila! All hardware functional. thumbup.gif

There's something wrong with the graphics atm though. If I turn on desktop effects and run a 3D app at the same time, the 3D app will flicker like mad. Good thing I hardly ever need to run any 3D apps in Ubuntu. Didn't happen with the previous release, which is weird.

is there a noticable difference if swapping 4gb of 667Mhz RAM with 4gb of 800Mhz??

im using the cq40-126ax. if i use the kingston hyperX 800Mhz 2gb RAM x 2piece , will the performance "jack-up"?? my current vista index is 4.0 using 4gb( 2 piece x 2gb) 667Mhz RAM.

I'm also thinking of getting one CQ40-126AX. I wonder this lappie will have a sound card issue if i'm using win xp.
My previous lappie (compaq presario f731au) have a sound card issue (cannot control the volumn and cannot use mic). Is this modal also facing the same issue if using win XP?

Hi guys, seeing as how this lappy runs hot and out of battery too fast for my liking, i am looking for ways to underclock it.

Any info / experiences to share on this matter? Is it safe? How do I do it? Is there software I can download that will underclock my processor?

Thanks for any help you can give guys rclxms.gif

This should answer your question:

As you can see there's improvement, but the price-to-performance gains ratio isn't much. I'd say it's not worth it.
AFAIK 4.0 is like the standard score for this model. It seems everyone gets that, even with 4GB 800mhz.

System will be snappier with 800mhz DDR2. Ive tried that and bechmarked them too. Vista score will stay at 4.0 because lowest is video card, not RAM. Upgrading to DDR2 800 will bring up memory score to 5.9.

Vista Ultimate is around RM700.
As for you second question... the answer depends on which non-original version that you're gonna use. Let's leave it at that.

Last time I saw in LYP is 2099 for 125AX & 2199 for 126AX (which come with 2GB RAM but no 160GB WD External)

But u could ask for the HP Promotion that only applicable for 126AX = RM2299 with 160GB WD External HDD. (1gb 667 RAM)

- U could get better things though if u purchase 126AX (refer the 1st post) - With 2299 u'll got 160GB + 4GB pendrive (1gb DDR667).. but why i don't want to buy with HP is because, if i'm going to upgrade the RAM to 3 GB (1GB + 2GB DDR800) that would cost me alot tongue.gif & i thinks it will take around 2 weeks or so to get to u.. so I'll better purchase is from a reseller which i can bargain to upgrade for the RAM at lower cost.

ohh 3 yrs return to depot warranty from HP only RM 199

so mine cost me around RM2.5+k = (Laptop 2299 + 3yrs warranty 199 + RAM xx)

if u add 800mhz 1gb it will still run at 667 because the original RAM is 667.

if u remove the original ram, add one 2gb 800 it will run faster but still a bit slower than 2x1GB 800 because of single channel.
*
Arghhh just check with GPU-Z... mine was 1GB 667 + 2 GB 800

so cannot fully optimize it tommorow..i already ask the sales person to change all to 1 + 2 GB DDR800... vmad.gif

hello guys n gals, just bought this laptop a few weeks ago n its great (apart from the battrey life)

question is, have you guys noticed that the body above the screen (where the shiny surface compaq logo is) is prone to scratches very easily?? how you guys keep it scratchless (apart from the obvious answer of not to scratch it, lol) is there anything to slap on this baby?

and btw, any one recommend any pouch (the slide in padded poch thingy like that of asis ee pc) for this lappy? the bag that comes with it kinda scratches it'
