How sure are you? IINM the CQ40 series have yet to reach 1 year.
If you're talking about the v3000 series, then you're spot on.

Yes, i just checked with Tesco, cq40-406 au does come with ATI 3200 HD, 1GB DDR2 RAM, 160GB hdd, 1year warranty with HP and first 7 days can return to Tesco.

I'm still considering this laptop as well, but I'm worry this CPU will be hotter than Turion since it's a desktop CPU.

I'd say it's a steal at that price. The drivers are not included I think, you'd have to download them from HP's website.

Whoa that's some serious bleeding. Hmm... what about movies with lots of vibrant colours, like Bee Movie? Any chance of a snapshot?

Just bought a CQ40-401AX for my brother from the HP Store just outside of Lowyat.

As most of you know the RRP for this model is RM2049.
Freebies include: HP Optical Mouse, AVF Notebook lock, Cap Ayam cooler, Cap Ayam Headset, 2GB DDR2 800 RAM. (In total 3GB).

Normally these sellers would give you some OEM RAM but to my surprise this time it's a Corsair gaming RAM, still sealed! So straightaway I asked him to take out the original 1GB ram and add another 2GB Corsair gaming ram (add RM60) to make it 4GB.

Total damage: RM2109

shady yeah the latest is 401/402AX series.

Base specs:

AMD Turion X2 RM-74 (2.2GHZ)
1GB DDR2 667
320GB HDD
Radeon HD3450 with 512MB Dedicated

RRP RM2049

This Corsair Gaming Ram,does it works with my CQ40-133AX ?
I mean 2x2Gb 800.
Any one try before?
I'm going to look for it at this coming PC fair.
Where to get in Kuching?..cost?
If it works with 401AX, it should work with 133AX, or even 125AX. They're all using the same motherboard anyway.

I think the best price for 401AX ATM is RM1999.
Don't count on 'slash price banyak banyak' for the newer models.

The price offered by nothingz is already so-called PC Fair like.

I'm using Vista Ultimate x64 on 125AX. No drivers issue, x64 is officially supported. Last I checked, the drivers for 401AX at HP's website are incomplete. Just use the ones for 133/34AX (or even 125/26AX I think), they're compatible.

Ah I see. He's referring to the notorious v3000 series, AMD & NVIDIA based. Google 'nvidia gpu failure'.

Another this I want to ask is, I installed Vista Ulti that the boot up was pretty quick until now. The BIOS load up was slow, and it stuck on the 'Compaq' screen for more than 10secs. But Vista loaded fairly fast. Any solutions? Maybe a BIOS update? Thanks. I love this lappie  biggrin.gif[/B]

Haven't heard of this before. I bought (and setup) 401AX for my brother and so far this issue is non-existent. The default and latest BIOS is F.42.

Yup, spot on.

I posted this before, but I'll post it again for those who missed it:

This guide may come in handy for those with OEM Vista installed.

I will NOT DO Gaming. Now I know that intel 4500 mhd  supports decoding of 1080p videos so i know know from you guys who have x4500 graphics did you play 720p and 1080p mkv files of blu ray rips in your laptops? Using Media player Classic and Vlc what was the cpu usage? did it play smoothly without stutters or lagging? Did the laptop got very hot and shut down?

What was the max cpu usage? and Cpu + IGP max temp?
*
I've tried on my friend's Intel based CQ40. Can't remember the exact model, but it's using a T series processor (2.0GHZ). Playback with Media Player Classic was silky smooth, thanks to CoreAVC.

http://www.coreavc.com/

Ditch VLC and try CoreAVC. Many people, myself included swear by it.

Can't remember the max CPU usage though, will check when I get the chance.

Why you should switch to CoreAVC:
