HDMI and DVI video quality is practically the same,
the only difference is that HDMI includes video AND audio.... so... if u wanna have audio coming from your monitor/lcd tv... u might wanna get the HDMI |

Yes, it includes audio, or you could get audio out from the normal A/V cable that came with the console while using HDMI for visual.

QUOTE(kayz1e @ Sep 6 2008, 09:43 AM) HDMI/DVI-D no doubt is the best. But not so for component > VGA. VGA is pure RGB signal, and all TVs/monitors can display it quite nicely, while there are some TVs/monitors that can't really display component any better. TC, there's one thing you should note, while it's true HDMI = DVI-D in terms of quality (just different cable they use, but all the contents are the same), there's a thing called HDCP for DVI-D. PS3 need this, but not the 360. If you are planning to convert HDMI > DVI-D, please take note whether the DVI-D port supports this. |

QUOTE(NTX @ Sep 6 2008, 09:24 AM) hi guys, i plan to get a hdmi cable for my xbox and ps3, Yes HDMI cable include Video and Audio signals at the same time...if u using a LCD tv , just connet the HDMI from ur Xbox360/PS3 to the HDMI port at the back of ur LCD TV (HDMI port) , if ur LCD tv got audio output ( white and red AV ) just grab an ordinary AV cable ( white and red ) then connect em to external speakers which have AV input.one thing im not know about hdmi cable, if i buy the hdmi cable, is the audio also include? those whole hdmi cable is for image and audio? or i need to buy another cable for audio ? HDMI > DVI usually for LCD monitors...for this cable , the sound output u can use the AV cables that includes with da`console , while the HDMI > DVI cable just for the Video.. |

Yes, as long as your TV support HDMI or DVI-D with HDCP. Set your consoles to 1280 x 720 for 360 and either 720p or 1080i for your PS3 and you are all set and regret why didn't you use this earlier.

Make sure your monitor is HDCP ready, like I mentioned above. Secondly make sure you don't buy the wrong DVI socket head, it's most frustrating to get a male/female head later to find out the monitor's DVI input socket has the same head. And as mentioned above, again, for the love of.. you can get sound out through the very A/V cable that comes with the PS3.

Pretty much yes if your TV is "Full HD" and not "HD Ready"
Edit: TS mentioned his/her TV is HD Ready only, that's why I suggest that resolution This post has been edited by gundamalpha: Sep 6 2008, 11:42 AM |

I don't know what speakers you are using, but normally it's direct plug in, or get a "dual RCA (female head)-to-3.5mm (male head)" cable. Hope this helps. |

QUOTE(NTX @ Sep 6 2008, 12:21 PM) What do you mean by auto detect? 360 or the TV? It didn't happened to me either way.. but that's not important at all, not worth discussing whether auto or manual as it'll be the same in the end setting to that resolution |
