Hi Kimiko
I agree with janetllc that Efamol is the best... I recently spoke to a few pharmacists and they are reasoning to me why Efamol is the best not because they are working in a pharmacy. I did my research and also was told that when buying EPO products, do check the % of GLA available in each capsule. The higher the %, the purer the EPO & it will be more effective. Having said that, Efamol is also the leading company in EPO research. The product itself is from UK and that each capsule contains 33% GLA...so, the expensive price we are paying is worth it. I have came across people that I know taking Efamol and have seen great results over the years but then for acne-proned skin, it has to be taken at least 3-6mths before you will notice the results...and acne popping during the initial stage of consuming is perfectly normal as the oil is working on balancing your hormone... As for other brand, their GLA % is low per capsule and even if 1300mg EPO, you are only getting 80mg of GLA where else...Efamol offers about 115mg per 1000mg (meaning two 500mg capsules) .... so, you are paying for something worth the price... I also found that instead of buying at Watson's or Guardian...getting Efamol at independent pharmacy or not so popular pharmacy like Caring....you might get even cheaper price on sales period....For instant, say at Guardian, you might need to pay RM245 for twin pack (250+free 50 capsule) = 600 capsules... but at independent pharmacy or Caring MidValley, now the selling price is RM229 for twin packs or RM123++ for 300 capsule per bottle.....Check them out... |

What Alyson mentioned were indeed true. That also shows she a smart consumer. Often we see alot of ppl buying or consuming supplement without really knowing the actual benefits. Mostly get to know through friends, families or the media.
Normal % of GLA in EPO is 9 to 10 % for every 500mg / 1000mg. For Seven Seas they claimed to have additonal 50% GLA extra which means 13.5% . As for Efamol they claimed to have 33% which is the highest. for more benefits and studies on supplementation you can always check the net but mayoclinic.com is my prefered choice. |

Most ppl said Efamol is the best. 33% GLA. but i am confuse.
Efamol EACH CAPSULE CONTAINS: EfamolĀ® evening primrose oil:500 mg Linoleic acid (LA):350 mg Gamma-linolenic acid (GLA):60 mg GNC 1300 Primrose Linoleic Acid (LA)... 910 mg Gamma-Linolenic Acid (GLA)... 100 mg Do this mean GNC better than Efamol? Is it because Efamol is 500mg while GNC is 1300mg? This post has been edited by adriankhoo153: May 2 2012, 05:35 PM |

like NatalieQ, I took Nutrilite EPO Plus, which combine herbs and EPO, makes it more effective in tacking the problem. I only have to take less than a month and during my next period, all I remebered was I didn't have any pre menstruation symtoms at all (ie heavy breast).
Having lots of GLA or LA is good, but should not be the only considering factor. I think the fact that Nutrilite combines herbs and EPO gives synergy. I tried other brands EPO before from overseas, 1000mg EPO (forget how much the GLA and LA was), but still not so effective. Hope the above helps. |

Comparing to other brand, Bio-life, Blackmores, those brands have 10% GLA and are priced much cheaper to Efamol, while the GLA difference is just 1.5%. |
