how to add Malaysia in d countries selection in Contact List....... as i scroll down the is no Malaysia in d contact list.... for firmware 2.0.1...

and also work on Firmware 2.0.2 (verified by lotilor)

Simple answer. Malaysia is not in the contact add address list because Apple have no plans to ship the iPhone to Malaysia yet. Hopefully soon.

ok after spending many hour seaching for solution.....at last i found a solution to DIY...

1) download d above 2 file (Modify by me)

2) after download u will have two files name - ABAdressFormats.plist and Localized.strings

3) u need to download Iphonebrowser 1.52

4) run iphone Browser 1.52 and go to /System/Library/Frameworks/AddressBook.framework/ABAddressFormats.plist and backup d original ABAddressFormats.plist after backup replace it with above modify ABAddressFormats.plist file.

5) then go to /System/Library/Frameworks/AddressBook.framework/English.lproj/Localized.strings and backup d original Localized.strings after backup replace it with above modify Localized.strings file.

6) reboot iphone..... then malaysia will appear in d country list...........


ATTENTION : USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISK ....... REMEMBER TO BACKUP D ORIGNAL FILES BEFORE DOING ANYTHING.......IT WORK FINE IN FIRMWARE 2.0.1......

Hmm...first of all, the Contact List can select country ka? Mind to explain how to do this

You'll see that under 'Add New Add' - if U don't oredi have that column available, go to Add Field --> New Address

hMm... that is not an option for phones which hasn't been meddled with; ie. jailbreaked, right?! ;(

if we done this, can the caller id displayed?
i knew the solution using appssupport, but does this do the same?

hmmm, must be a flaw i guess, so other than those countrys having iphone, they cant have frens from other country?

firmware 2.0.1 got appsupport?? caller id still can display d person name.......

for addinng malaysia in d contact list.......once u tap on d address it will bring you to google map and pin point d location......

i dun know is it d same as appsupport or not coz i modify from d original code...

then it will pin point d area,,,,


or u can go to appstore to download d free mapping software......

dun key in address specific, so wats the point? so it will pop up and draw a big circle at johor map?

ok u can key in d name of d taman n it will pin point not d whole johor but d taman..atleast it narrow down to d taman....rite..better than u can't use d feature at all....

another solution is dun use google map....go and download 3rd party navigation software from appstore....maybe it might work?

This is a bit ridiculous, macam meaning those iPhone owners (from countries with iPhone officially launched) CANNOT store friends address from Malaysia (in this case) just because the phone not launch here >:<

i didnt try move other location yet. maybe the blink could move also.
fyi that two files work on 2.0.2 firmware.

Must la ... if not then how to replace the file. Remember ... if want to mod anything on the phone u must jailbreak first.

i replace the both file as stated on post 1, but when people call in. still display numbers only

bro....this is not caller ID fix ler......this is enable u to have "MALAYSIA" on d contact list...so u can key-in your beloved malaysian freinds address on d contact section.......

i doubt that is an indication, they now pretty much have all the countries in the world including the likes if bhutan, tuvalu, bangladesh etc....

first of all what is your i3g firmware...... if 2.1 below u will have to use patch files.... but if u r on firmware 2.2 u no need to use this file patch becoz apple already add malaysia in the contact list...
