Just connect SPDIF output from motherboard to the SPDIF input on the card back panel, then the sound would be channeled to the HDMI

I can't comment on which is better, but when I bought it, it's really bang for bucks.

I wanted to get a normal 9600GT, searched around LYN, then I found XFX selling quite cheaply, so I PM bro lehteck, he suggested I get Gainward.

I'm like, apa brand ni, tak pernah dengar, but after reading the comments and some googling as well as how Gainward is linked to Palit, I am really interested with the card.

Furthermore, it had double slot cooler, factory OC'ed and massive heatsink with heatpipe.

I actually never know what is Golden Sample until I took my PC to the pc shop to RMA the power supply and one guy saw and said "Eh, this one Golden Sample ah, nice stuff eh"

So I took this opportunity to ask about Golden Sample and then I realized that I bought a great card

Oh I tried using cap ayam PSU for my reassembled RIG from scrap, while installing XP, the DVDRW got killed by the PSU

Talking about PSU

I am using Silverstone ST56F to power my 9600GT

I actually wanted to get ST50F only, ST56 seems a little overkill haha

The irony is my ST56F died in the 6th day I bought my PC, i had to wait 2 weeks for the new batch to arrive from Taiwan

Me on contrary prefers non reference card, extended reference ftw !

See what they have done to my 9600GT, dual DVI, Optical audio input to mix with video signal for output via HDMI (alternatively, can use the internal SPDIF header), as well as Display port

You already posted the exact reasons why I chose Gainward

1) Cooling system - dual slot, heat pipe, massive heatsink

2) HDMI, Display port, optical input

3) Factory overclocked

Seems like I won something ^^

Unless you have too much $$ you don't know where else to put, but hey, it's more worth it to pay for a flight to Japan to visit the Gainward models

As much as I have heard how good Silverstone is, my experience was otherwise I went to LYP after my exams with two other friends to buy our PC, same specs. While assembling the PC, 2 PC were assembled on time except for one where the workers kept trying to figure out what's the problem. They changed the motherboard, but still not working, after half an hour, then only realized power supply (Silverstone ST56F) was faulty. I thought the Gainward 9600GT was the one faulty lol, if that's the case it would be troublesome as the cards were bought from lehteck, not the shop.

So finally got all 3 PC fixed up. Then after a week, it was MY own ST56F to die off halfway using on a Sunday morning, had to wait 2 weeks as there was no more stocks of ST56F. How lucky can one get to encounter 2 faulty brand new ST56F in one week time.

Cause that time ST50F no stock

Hijack all thread on Hardware Q&A, those asking to buy new PC, go mention Gainward

Hmm, with the merger or bought over, hopefully you guys will continue focusing on Gainward, who knows later the new company decide to push other GC brand lol
