QUOTE(hilmiangah @ Oct 4 2008, 06:44 PM) well more memory is used on the high resolution. but from several review about the card that use 1gb of memory like the 8800gt and 9600gt the 1gb model is actually slower. well i hope i can c the benchies on the 4870 1GB soon... it's rly hard to decide whether jz to purchase 512 or 1GB... |

QUOTE(pikacu @ Oct 4 2008, 07:35 PM) well, how high is it? i mean the min resolution to truly harness the extra memory? according to the benchies u provide the min res they test is at 1920x1200? This post has been edited by Sib: Oct 4 2008, 07:39 PM |

QUOTE(pikacu @ Oct 4 2008, 07:39 PM) check this out : http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=801801 thx bro, future proof imo i shud jz go for the 1GB version... the test at 2560 x 1600 expect crysis, at 1920 x 1200 1 thing does scares me a lot....power consumption! |

QUOTE(celciuz @ Oct 4 2008, 07:45 PM) 4870 1GB uses a lot more wattage than 4870 512mb? IMO almost the same la for the wattage, plus or minus a bit only. QUOTE(pikacu @ Oct 4 2008, 07:45 PM) If you are comparing HD4870 512MB and HD4870 1GB power consumption, i'm actually comparing it to my 3870 here... 1GB version only consume ~1 watt more than 512MB version at idle, while ~4 watts more at load (according to the benchmark). as for these 2 versions, it's not tat much a diff, seeing the extra juice it can pump out |
