While in the middle of game, especially super intense graphical usage, the screen will blackout in several seconds and subsequently doing that later on. But on lower settings, there might be blackouts but less likely.

Reverting back to 8.7 looks refreshing. Only one blackout encountered so far.

QUOTE(NetRaid @ Sep 7 2008, 04:57 PM) SUPPORT ISSUE I am still experiencing the blackouts with 8.7 but not that frequent. For those experiencing blackouts (regardless of brands), please check: 1. PSU not enough power (unlikely if you use true power 450W and above - depending on other items in your rig too). 2. Pirated Windows XP Pro. Very few thought of this: http://thestar.com.my/news/story.asp?file=...1600&sec=nation 3. Unstable driver. Try using CCC 8.7 first. Play some games, don't use those benchmarking apps like Furmark. If games ok, then keep 8.7 Temp is unlikely to be the cause since most reporting around 70-80C on load. Hope this helps. |

QUOTE(commandboy @ Sep 8 2008, 12:50 AM) what games that u experience black out? GRID has that. Although on 8.7, it seems fewer (usually at the early game). Company of Heroes has blackouts too. Plus Gears of War. Even Age of Empires 3 has blackouts but usually once after starting the game.i got black out once when im wanna rewind grid flashback... im not sure is blackout or not, coz half sec it back to normal. |

Guys, on funny note, I never experience any blackouts with 8.8 Catalyst on Vista. I set all maximum on Assassin's Creed. It's not that smooth especially when on the top of tower (eagle vision) but close on the streets and fightings are fine enough, very well playable. So far, I only tested Assassin's Creed. Perhaps Vista has better power management compared to XP?

ok guys. i have both xp and vista on my comp. the blackout stuffs i got on the screen were on XP. so far testing games on vista, such blackouts never happened. it's weird. i havent got my psu yet (bought online before netraid announce the unstable thing). like i said, it's weird. i tested assassin's creed, crysis warhead and also half life 2 games like tf2 and so on. on xp, tf2 has several blackouts but not frequent. on vista, i never had any blackouts at all. so far so good. the xp is using 8.7 while on vista, it's 8.8. the 8.8 on xp was worse than 8.7 tho.
tho my only concern is that my comp became so hot just now after several hours of playing crysis. the game hang on loading. i just barely restarted my pc. was on the game from 11 am this morning. |
