I'm a bit torn; if there's a chance, should I switch from a 4850 to 4870 + top up? Or stay with 4850? Opinions please tongue.gif

Added on October 20, 2008, 9:03 pmAnd I believe it's time for V2 of this thread?
*
if you want to switch then make haste...someone is willing to trade his 4870 with 4850 + top up..

hey..1 more thing is SilverStone ST56F (is it real power?)good enough for 4850GS even 24/7? Considering to get used PSU...if can't sell my gc....

even you sell out your 4850.. i doubt you will get a decent price...they will just chop you...no hard feelings..that's what i get.... so i decided to sell my current PSU + a bit of cash should be enough to cover the new PSU..

if ST56F can't power up 4850GS, a lot of PSU is going to fail already tongue.gif.

well.. maybe i should be more specific on my question... i intend to leave my pc open for couples of months...is the PSU able to survive that? I doubt my current PSU would...

errr.. my Cooler Master 450W is real power as welll..but is giving me error message (PC Probe and HWMonitor)when i leave it overnight...somemore already downclock it to 500mhz...so what comes into my mind is long hour will stress up the PSU no matter how much watts you are using...

What error message? Can state it here?

I've left my system for days when downloading. No error or whatsoever after I wake up. I even left my computer overnight for downloading + Intelburntest testing to see if my OC is stable or not a few times.

i lost the error msg.. but i remember HWMonitor.exe for 12+V rail the min value is 0.06V...and PC Probe alert on the Voltage.. the following is the log (PC Probe)...

haha..odin is odin ma...but dont worry..no doubt Silverstone is a good brand smile.gif

jimmy none;

i think either it's ur psu faulty or ur hse punya electricity unstable..which is highly unlikely...hence the former should be the problem..open ur case check if the connections are all correct..make sure no loose ends anywhere...

completely switch off ur socket b4 doing so smile.gif
*
hope is the electricity unstable...gonna try it tml night...going to sleep soon... ain't there anyway to test the PSU out but leave the sparks from coming out ?hmm the PSU is still under warranty...but what i am gonna use..if go RMA..for few months....

Pal, i believe you having the same PSU that jimmy_none bro have. So kindly report how is the stability after u successfully run the card with ur PSU, just a refer to jimmy_none and other forumers, thanks. smile.gif

Hmm... as mention in the previous post .. when the PC using ATI 4850 is idle.. the power consumption is 300W and Cooler Master 450W, +12V Rail max power is 296. From the ATI requirement, the card will need 100W.

As for me, after slotting the card...my CPU VCore voltage is not stable...first time drop till 0.06V. Yesterday jump to 4.0V+ .. (using Hardware Monitor and PC Probe). Weird thing is my pc did not restart...kinda lost..some website would said..is just a software, not reliable...

well different brand different output..like mention earlier..SilverStone PSU 500W can draw power up to 598..but after that KO... i just hope that my CPU VCore voltage fluctuation won't not damage my hardwares...

but some testing like my setup, only drain power around 350W onload, still pure safe..

if i am not wrong the gc is taking power from +12V Rail...so power consumption should be based on +12V Rail only
