Could it be some parts of your computer faulty? Try booting with another GC first to see if it works.
Gainward 4850 Custom Cooler? The non golden sample? That model's heatsink don't have heatpipes if I'm not mistaken

I don't think everyone's 4850GS will be like aric's temperature... He is using a CM690 with 7 120mm of those CM silent fans. The black frame and blue led ones, I'm sure the airflow inside is superb >.< Just noticed the newer 4850GS comes with the backplate to help support like the reference cards. My first batch one don't have the backplate behind the chip @@.

Oh...guess not, but my motherboard doesn't have a place to plug the other end of the 6 pin connecter.  By the way, the 6 pin is the one that comes with the card right?  Sorry, not too shabby with the terms.

what's weird was that it didn't come with those ones that split so I ended up buying it at the store for RM10...yeah.

Right now, 38-39C idle and 60C max when playing Warhead. This fan sounds much more silent! Thought it is spinning slower? @@ I thought 55% was about 1.6k. Anyways, this card when I bump the fan speed to 100%, no more metal cracking sound. My old one had some weird sound when fan goes up fast.

Damn, downloaded the 8.10. Uninstalled 8.9, reboot in safe mode to clean the drivers. Boot back into windows only to find out that file I downloaded isn't complete ._. Now driverless and downloading it again .

aric_68, more silent definitely, more cool I'm not sure >.< lol. Seems the same as my previous one though.
