psu wise...if you plan to max out your graphics in everygame you;re playing considering you're using a high end gc aka ATI4850/ATI4870..

chances are, you'll need at least 550W for 4850 and a good 700w for 4870 (i think)... of course it'll be higher for GS modules...

cuz for me, 390w can run the gc at max details in some games, but some can't...which result in sudden power off. Hence now i'm getting a new psu sad.gif ...

all in all, my best advice is, if you are getting a high end GC..might as well spend abit more on the psu.
spideysam;

of course gainward better larh...distro Hebat here maa...easy to contact also.... tongue.gif

Did you guys read the tweaktown review on 4850GS? It uses like 4-5W more than the reference only, and on idle, it actually uses less wattage.

QUOTE(jimmy_none @ Oct 3 2008, 12:15 PM)
picksickrick may i know what is your pc spec? have you tried to use any software like Hardware Monitor to check your PSU watts usage before and after the graphic card? one more thing..what is the PSU you have in mind now
*
Didn't know got such hardware @@. Gonna try it out biggrin.gif

spideysam, at that resolution you will need 4870 1GB and above for best performance.

You want to play on that kinda resolution so you will appreciate having higher buffer for the textures biggrin.gif. 1GB > 512mb at very high resolution. 22/24inchers should see the differences.

By the next year, you will be aiming for the next series already tongue.gif. The new ATi series coming out by then, and Intel i7 as well biggrin.gif. Then I suppose by then you will wait longer for price to drop a little ._.

It's kinda funny because there should be a lot of Nvidia fanboy/supporter. I was one of them and i have planned to get another Geforce for my rig too. But once ATI release the 4800 series I totally switch side. Actually not only me, I'm sure many is the same.

It seems like GPU market = the fastest rules!!! No loyalty I guess. Or it is just me. tongue.gif

I was a Nvidia fan boy in the beginning, went to ATi during the 9800XT era, then went back to Nvidia during the 6600GT time, now back to ATi 4850 biggrin.gif.

Of course man, 4850 = best price/performance ratio right now.

I wanted to go for 8800GT, after researching more before buying ended up with 4850 biggrin.gif.
