Dear Mr ------,

Thank you for contacting Maxis.

Please be informed there is no tentative timeframe that can be given as to when the iPhone will be launched. We would notify our customer once it is available.

Thank you.

Yours sincerely

Subject: Information and Queries about iPhone 3G
- Hide quoted text -

Dear Sir/Madam,

I would like to ask a few questions, namely:

1. ) When is the iPhone 3G going to make its debut in Malaysia? I have heard and seen a lot of rumours, both online and offline, that Maxis will bring it in.

2. ) Would we Malaysians get to buy the phone without tying up with a Maxis plan?

3. ) What is the approximate price for the iPhone 3G if brought in?

4. ) Would the phone be unlocked, or locked to Maxis?

I thank you for your kind consideration in answering the following.

Regards,

A Maxis Postpaid user

I wonder why they wouldn't answer our questions. If they are really going to do so, wouldn't they let out the details and leak a bit here and there to get our attention?

Plenty of reasons mate, one of them would probably be that they would not like to give empty promises to the company's customers, moreover, how sure are you that the negotiations are going on smoothly?

it is because they lazy to answer ur Q, even others people ask also got the same answer, how about, send to all telco provider and somehow "ugut" them that you will change to any other network that bring in iphone 3G since the MNP( mobile number porbility ) coming and told them there a lot of people also like iphone 3g and they will also change to that telco....

haha and see how they will answer it.

Really expecting the iPhone 3G to come to Malaysia, and with a contract too, I could get an iPhone with my current contract..

@lilredridinghood:
I have no idea. That's why I ask.

@TakanoKyohei:
I should do that. Good idea. =/

@baretta:
.. Not much of an issue if I wanted to get it in SG, but I want it along with a plan, since I am a heavy user..

I think what most people want to know for now is when the iPhone 3G will debut in MY; even if talks have been made, I'm sure pricing's being structured so that's something that won't be announced until much later.

There are plenty of reasons as I've said, there may or may not be talks going on, the talks might not be going on their way. We, consumers are still not sure if the iPhone would even make its debut in the Malaysian market.

If talks are successful, I'm sure they will leak out some news about bringing in the iPhone 3G to prevent the customers from signing up with other providers as early as possible. Why wouldn't they tell out if there are positive news that is very likely to benefit them? Telling you alone just because of an email would be a stupid thing to do as they are hiding news that is beneficial to the company's profit.

Singtel in my opinion, worked out the plan much earlier, but did not announce it to anybody, not even their own customers. Marketing reasons. But at least they let people know that they are selling the iPhones and urged the people to sign up with them. If they were to leak out the pricing details, then there might be less customers due to the pricing factor and gives the competitors advantage, to adjust their pricing. Maxis could be thinking that you might be working for a competitor, DIGI or Celcom.

Just my 2 cents

How about sending an Email to TV1,2.3,7,8,9 or even astro and ask them to read the email in front of TV saying that when our telco will bring the iphione since it has a lot of people want to buy it, they those telco surely will bring those "PRECIOUS" a.k.a iphone 3G to uur shore. or ask KARAM SIGH WALIa to read it in TV3..? rclxms.gif flex.gif
