aiya. so defensive lah you. i dont know how much you make or what not. but programs such as office. not everyone can get this at a cheapo price. of course there are alternatives. but what about specialized software like adobe and what not. some things arent necessity. but they are hobbies. like friends who do graphic design just for a bit of extra cash on the side. they dont get the discount on the 1000+ dollar software. but they like to have it. even if its just to edit the little avatar they have on lyn. hence they seek out pirated software. i dunno if you were born into a rich family or what. but i think you need to look at this from all angles. some people just dont have the money.
It's because piracy is hurting our jobs and as a developer, of course I'm concerned about people pirating software. Just because you're not in the industry does not mean you can ignore this fact. It has nothing to do with me being born into a rich family (which I am not for the record). If you're using the software to earn money, it's for a commercial purpose and for such purposes, you MUST purchase the software or you are committing fraud. To edit avatars, let me introduce you to this free utility called GIMP. Even Paint.NET will allow you to do this easily. They can also get the most basic Adobe Photoshop Image Starter edition. These are not professional grade software, so it costs much less (or even free) and they are perfectly fine for what your friends do. Then you complain that GIMP is too difficult to use and not user-friendly? Tough luck, because it costs money to make excellent software. They have absolutely no need for the expensive creative suite options unless they are doing more advanced professional level work, which they can then buy if they want to. Creative Suite isn't for fun, playing stuff. It's a tool used in professional circles for mainly commercial purposes.I think I'm done with my ranting here. It is difficult to change the mindset of the ignorant.
