Does anyone know where I can find the following 32" LCD TV models :

1) Panasonic Viera TC-32LZ800 32" 1080p LCD HDTV

2) LG 32LG70 32" 1080p LCD HDTV

I saw the tech spec of these 2 models and they are just what I'm looking for. Problem is I don't see them in any store. Not sure if they are limited to be sold only in certain countries.

Thanks in advance notworthy.gif .

Hey guys.... after months of dilemma I have finally make the decision and picked the Panasonic Viera 32LX800 (Thanks to iamsobloodysick for giving me a good deal on the set). Tested it out with some games and Transformers The Movie Blu-Ray disc on my PS3. Suffice to say I am very satisfy with this purchase. I'm still not sure of some of the features that come with this model so hope someone here who own/have experience with this model can help.

1. I'm not sure how to describe this but I saw some high end LCD panels which are able to make films look like a videos (It's like the movements of the actors becomes very smooth and you can really differentiate the foreground and background). Is the Motion Picture Pro something similar to this because I don't really notice it like I did with those LCD panels that has that function.

2. How do you access the demo mode for the 100Hz/60Hz splitscreen demo in LX800 ? Is it a function only available for display unit ?

3. I notice there is a minor hissing sound when I'm watching certain local TV channels (Most noticeable is 8TV). Do you guys face have the same proplem ?

Thanks.

P.S. You guys must really get Transformers Blu-ray. The story is not that great but film details and quality really shows off on a LCD/Plasma compared to the DVD version.

Hey all...since no one answer my queries I took the liberty to find out some of the answer myself and hopefully this will help others who is looking for the same thing :

1. The function I mentioned is called "anti-judder" which are only available in high ends model Like Sony X series, Samsung 6 series...etc (mostly 40" above). The 100Hz/120Hz refresh has nothing to do with it. I found these 2 articles which are very useful :

Link 1 : (720p Vs. 1080p)

Link 2 : (Six things about 120Hz LCD TV)

2. It seems that the 100Hz/60Hz demo is a specially recorded video which is for the shop only.

3. (I'm still waiting for someone to answer this one unsure.gif )

I am pushing up my previous post here again as I think the link above will help those who are planning to purchase LCD/Plasma TV. It is true that doing research online does help us get the TV best suited for our needs. Not to brag or anything but I find myself suddenly become more knowledgeable on LCD/Plasma technology after going through some of the similar articles like the ones above (not expert lah but at least know what they are talking about) tongue.gif . At the end the final decision will fall back to "YOU". I would recommend some of the following tips :

1. Do research online and check out the all features of each TV. Look at places like Amazon for some user reviews and see what they think (sometimes not accurate though). Some professional sites like CNet provide video reviews on similar models so you might be able to expect what current models will offer. Some sites offers comparism between different units. ( e.g. Link : http://compareindia.in.com/ )

2. Go to as many electronic goods store as possible. Compare the PQ/SQ and design of different models on your wishlist to see which one you desired the most. If the sales person is kind enough ask if they can put the unit side by side and set everthing (contras,brightness...etc) to 50% showing the same picture source for comparism. Ask them to show you the features of the set (i.e 100Hz refresh , 1080p, P in P, Motion Flow...etc). Better feature doesn't necessarily mean better PQ so you have to determine this by yourself. If they don't bother to layan you just say thank you and move on to another shop.

3. Ask the sales person of the warranty period, the after sales service given and also the delivery charges and compare them between shops. Like what Dnutz has done ask if they can lower the price if you exclude some of the freebies/package items. Do ask them if they include free installation if you don't bother setting it up yourself. If you are paying by installment calculate the total to ensure you didn't pay extra. Payment by credit card include a surcharge so it might be slightly more expensive then the offer price.

4. When it's time to buy make sure they are not giving you a display unit. Copy down the serial number if you ask them to deliver in order to ensure they don't do swap out. Don't let the delivery guy leave until the TV is installed and tested at your place so if anything goes wrong you can send it back directly.

5. After the TV is installed try testing it with different media sources like normal TV broadcast, Astro, DVD, PS3, Blu-ray...etc and try to adjust the PQ settings to fit what you are watching.

6. Enjoy the TV icon_rolleyes.gif .

A bit long winded but I hope this helps. tongue.gif

P.S. I'm still waiting for someone to answer my 3rd questions on my previous post regarding the 32LX800MK which is do you hear any hissing sound when you watch local channels like 8TV.

Thanks.

8TV via RF? Sort of interference? Do you see any picture noise esp lines?
*
Apologize for not being clear. Yes...I'm wathcing 8TV via RF through normal TV antenna. The pictures are clear but there is a very light hissing/crackling sound when the volume is raise. No such problem with RTM1,RTM2,TV3 & TV9. A bit noticeable on NTV7 but very significant on 8TV. I wonder if the same applies to same TV channels on Astro ? Might it be because of the TV's built in speakers ?

I don't have the hissing noise when I watch the above mentioned channels. But I don't use TV antenna as my source. I am connected via S-video from Astro.

However, I notice that the human faces looks broader (wider). I tried using the "Aspect" button and selected the "Just" option but still it was a bit broad compared to normal. That option just improve it a little bit. Do you have this problem with you Pana 800MK?
Yep, I bought this at the recent KLCC Homedec for RM2300. But I believe that there will be another year end sale soon from Pana slated for Dec. So look out for that. You can probably get a better deal then.

I think that's a problem with all wide screen TV as the picture is stretched sideways when you watch Local TV channels. I use the 4:3 aspect ratio. By the way.....a question to those who own LCD/Plasma with "Anti-Judder" function. Does this option improve/smooth out the motion on traditional 2D animated films as well ? I know it works very well on live action and 3D Animated films but what happen when you play 2D Animations (i.e. Disney's Alladin, Little Mermaid, Beauty & The Beast, Japanese Anime...etc) with the "Anti-Judder" effect turned on ?

Thanks.

The only shop at Jalan Pasar selling LCD/Plasma is inside e-mart. No need to go there unless you are looking for older models/non-branded TVs. The price is ok but some of the PQ just doesn't measure up to the current models. If you are not picky and just want a good enough LCD/Plasma this will be a good place. If you go for quality I suggest you go survey at the following location :

1) Best Denki (Berjaya Time Square/KLCC) - They have very attentive promoters there...recommended.

2) Desa Home Theater (Low Yat Plaza, Jalan Kepong) - They are having a anniversary sale at the moment.

3) Harney Normans (Pavillion, Mid Valley) - The have the most model display at the shop floor.

Ohh...by the way...today is "Black Friday"...almost every electronical appliances shop in US is slashing their price like crazy....not happening here....sigh sad.gif

LX-800 full hd while LX-80 hd ready.
*
Wrong. Here's the difference :

LX80 = HD Ready. 60Hz Panel
LX800 = HD Ready. 100Hz/120Hz Panel
LZ80 = Full HD. 60Hz Panel
LZ800 = Full HD. 100Hz/120Hz Panel. 24P True Cinema. x.v colour.

IPS is an LCD technology which enable high contrast to be display and also improve viewing angle compared to other LCD panels.

Also confuse.... rclxub.gif
I saw some forumer said got "ghost" shadow in the screen, is the low frequency panel causing that??

Anyway, wat is 24P True Cinema??
Thanks

Yes. Screen "Ghosting" are caused by slow refresh of LCD (usually 60Hz) as compared to Plasma (>100Hz) Panels especially when fast movement is shown hence the creation of higher frequency panels.

24P True Cinema is a function found in the LZ800 series which recreate extra frames in cinematic movie (usually shot in 24 fps) for example in a movie you will :

usually see frame : 1...2...3...4

instead

you will see frame : 1...2...2...3...3...3...4

This will making the movements in the film silky smooth. Similar function usually can found in high end (expensive) LCDs (or Plasma) such as Sony X series, Samsung 6-9 series and Philips 5403 series and above. The effect however is not likely to be accepted by everyone as it make the film look like a home video but you can turn it off
