Same here as well. I am pretty satisfied with my Panny 37LX800. The image is amazing , everything looks so cool. I am typing this from my HTPC. I'll post the pictures later so that you guys can take a look at it

How much is the cheapest cordless desktop set?Plan to get for my home theater system.Perhaps can use as my pc liao, chat and play infront of my Aquos. tongue.gif

RM 99. I bought the Microsoft Cordless Desktop Combo 700 from Sri Computer. It comes with a Cordless Mouse and a keyboard. Its fairly cheap and does a very good job. Comes with handy volume keys and handy buttons such as Back/Front , Play Pause which I find it easy for web navigation !

Please recommend me a LCD for my living room. Is full HD necessary? What can I do with full HD and blueray out of my current budget? Is 37” good enough, should it be 40” or 42”? Can it input astro, normal aerial line, dvd, cctv, and computer, all 5 together? Budget wise maybe 4k+ ... Thanks.
*
Well I got a HD Ready Television (Again there is no point of buying Full HD now when ASTRO still sucks. I bet they would use 720p first or 1080i. Maybe 1080p gives you a clearer picture , but for my eyes 720p is clear enough. It has all the extra details. To experience full HD , it would be best to go more then 42" , then you'll get the umph.

I am using Panny TX-37LX80 Series (*cough* HD Ready */cough*) Does a good job when you connect it to PC , however it overscans when you connect it to HDMI (You'll have to get a true HD TV to achieve 1:1 pixel ratio). Speaking of over scans , anyone know whats the rough % that the TV does overscanning. I want to try to bring down the resolution and get it fit to the TV

So for me , honestly asking HD Ready should do the trick. I am using that right now , and I am pretty happy

Hmm I am wondering if its worth it to get the Monster S-video cable. Does it improve the video quality of ASTRO ?

i want to connect my pc audio to the lcd
i've the the minijack to rca, shud i plug into the input or output of the tv???
mine have 2 composite input
*
Plug it into the input. Usually there would be one meant for the PC Input. VGA + RCA. Output is usually meant for connecting to your Amplifier to give more umph to the sound

Anyway , I went to ACE Hardware today (At Mutiara Damansara) , got myself the RCA Splitter for ASTRO (so that I can hook up my TV and my PC Together. Before this , it was in Mono (oh god...lol the sound quality sucked a lot..I mean a lot , but now its much more better) . Bought the Tosh link cable for Digital out. Voila its now in Digital !

Oh yeah , was torn down between VGA and HDMI today. With VGA I get no overscans (sorry peeps , I don't have full HD TV ,and I do know with full HD you can disable overscans) , its pixel prefect but again the colour quality sucks and I can't play any 1080 stuff, the pc just creeps out as the max resolution for VGA is 1366x768 (what a weird resolution , I mean its not even a multiple of 8). Connected it via HDMI , yeah the stupid TV does overscan. I am forced to choose 1080i and then downscale it to 1366x768 (its not pixel prefect but it's pretty good and I can watch HD Movies with my PC). Some may suggest me to use 720p and then set the resolution to 1366x768 , but then it sucks as pixels are being streched. I rather choose 1080i and the downscale it.

Just a tip for those who are using HD Ready TV. If you're using Full HD/1080p , just disable overscan and your PC can output 1080p pixel prefect , your desktop would look stunning. Anyway it looks stunning for me (minus the blurry font)

Another reason for Panny's 5 year extended warranty. Thats why I bought the 32" HD Ready LCD (although the full HD costs only an additional RM 450 , but I don't see the full use of HD on a 37". Its better to have it on 42"/1080p then you'll see the umph)

Anyhow , I am using it as PC Monitor as well. My Pc is outputting at 1080i (yuck !) , however I can use 720p for playing games which is great. 1080i is okay when you want to surf and just use MSN !. If you use VGA , it uses the TV Native resolution (W/o overscan and 1:1 pixel mapping) , which is great but gives you a limited set of resolution. If you are using a full HD , then you can use HDMI and you can get a pixel perfect !

So , for me the current HD Ready LCD TV is enough. The 5 years warranty is a good deal !

FULL HD 1080p on 32 inch? is the panel also 1366 x 768?

correct me... I thought 1080p will be best viewed on panel resolution of 1080 height. right?
*
1920x1080 , thats its panel display. Defeats to get a 32" Full HD , unless you really want it. For me, there is no point of getting Full HD on 32" (thats why its cheap a bit). Full HD is very nice when you hit 40" LCD or better yet.

Your first conclusion is wrong though

Not all 32" LCD are HD Ready. Panny has one which is full HD and even Samsung !

RM 1.5k for a 32" Full HD TV is worth it. I paid mine for 3k and its like uh for the 2008 Model and its HD Ready .But I am still happy with my purchase. It supports 720p content so I don't care pretty much although gaming sucks on 1080i !

Just wondering how many of you use LCD TV as pc monitors?

Thinking of getting a 32" lcd tv, but curious as to how it will perform being a monitor. Any issues with 'lag' for games? How far should I be from the TV for optimal viewing? 30 inches?
*
I am using one as PC Monitor but its for HTPC , to watch videos , to view photos and to listen to songs. Depending if you're going to get a full HD TV or HD Ready TV Set. I am using HD Ready TV set and so far so good. I can game at 720p or at 1080i (meaning that I can choose resolution in between 720p to 1080i) as opposed to connecting my PC using VGA !

QUOTE(iamsobloodysick @ Oct 27 2008, 05:16 PM)
you better consider 100Hz PANEL LCD tv to avoid the lagging during playing game.
*
I am using 30Hz (60 ?) regular HD Ready LCD (Panny) and I don't get any lags when I am playing games such as MMORPG and RPGs. For me it looks fine , maybe my eyes aren't sharp enough to see

QUOTE(elwwmatrix @ Oct 27 2008, 06:01 PM)
I always use my 32" LCD as a monitor to watch movies from my laptop. I am using s-video to  component video,so movies looks good(not spectacular cause it is a dvd resolution). But my panel is 100Hz,and quite ok for fast action movies. For games, i haven't tried yet. My distance is 5-6 feet away. laugh.gif
*
I wonder why you didn't use HDMI instead ! S-video is analogue , you should be using DVI to HDMI for pure digital to digital connectivity

I always KNEW S-video is analogue. My laptop  don't have HDMi connectivity thats y i  use the only connection available.
if I got HDMi y would i use the analogue one? brows.gif

Dont tell me your laptop doesn't have DVI. Even my 5 year old iBook has DVI Out , and it can connect to my HDTV just fine (With DVI TO HDMI Adapter) and I'm set. I am sure your laptop has DVI Out or just use VGA. IMO , at least its not going to overscan the display and you'll get pixel perfect on VGA (eventho its analogue)

If you ask me , skip S-Video , and go for VGA Straight or just use DVI TO HDMI Adapter , that would do the trick. DVI is digital and HDMI is digital. Its just that you wouldn't be carrying HD Sound via DVI , just the image only. For sound , i am sure you can use analogue

Then notice the umphness of the video , especially when you can use softwares to upscale the quality (not soo good0 but it will give you a good image)

I'm telling you AGAIN, my laptop doesn't have DVI or HDMI. cry.gif My laptop is not same as yours ,very lauyah one. tongue.gif Only Dell inspiron 1520.Lucky you got an iBook. My laptop just just VGA out and S video Out.
I know the s-video not so good but what i can i do. I'm searching for the VGA cable at the moment, so i'm using the s-video cable.
Still no hope for DVI to Hdmi. Huhuhu
*
Funny , judging from your specifications , the graphics card supports HDMI anyway. I guess Dell didn't enable it. That's sad. Go get a VGA Cable and make full use of progressive scan. Anyhow , do let us know the quality once you have swapped the cable

Yep. Thanks prasys for the recommendation.  notworthy.gif  I'm definitely looking for a VGA cable. biggrin.gif
I agree, Dell is weird. They offer good gaming graphic cards and even got options for BLu Ray Reader/Burner, but no DVI or HDMi connection. blink.gif  Bummer...
*
Sure if you're in the KL Area you can get it easily. Go to any PC Computer store and you can get VGA Male to VGA Male cable. You got a Full HD Display and you're using s-video thats like having a Ferrari and using a R92 , good car with cheap maintenance (can't get the equivalent term - its something like that). Plus your Graphics card supports HD as well. Gaming and watching HD Movies would be much more better

Do share your experience once you have made the switch.

i dunno whether its right to post here, but need some expert opinion on this.
i am having some problem with my Samsung 32" LCD TV, LA32R81B connected to my PC via VGA cable.
I'm using 1360 x 768 resolution.
Whenever I tried to play games, or even try to run 3Dmark06, my screen will turns to blue screen with error "Mode not supported". (3D mark is running under 1280 x 1024 resolution)
Only after i pressed ESC, it will goes back to the desktop.

This even happens when i switch the resolution to a higher or even lower then 1360 x 768.
Can anybody check if this LCD only supports ONE resolution ONLY??
*
Problem lies within VGA System. For example my Panasonic LCD TV only supports 1366x768 , 1024x768 , 800x600 , 640x480 on VGA. If I go higher then that , it shows Mode not supported , if I go lower it wouldn't still support. VGA uses a different architecture and it doesn't know how to upscale and downscale

You'll have to switch to HDMI output (DVI-HDMI cable would do the trick). This is what I am using right now. What its doing is that my graphics card has an option for HDTV (most graphics card do anyway). So its outputting at 1080i (to support resolutions such as 1280x1024 and of course up to 1080i itself). What it does is that it scales the image (i.e 1280x1024 and outputs it as 1080i. The display thinks the image is 1080i and it displays it). Of course its not going to look great as your graphics card did some downs scaling and then your TV upscale it

Hi all experts here, I am thinking of buying Pansonic LVD TX-32LX88MK. owever, when I searched through the spec, I found the response time is 15ms which is ver slow compare to other brand LCD TV with 6~8ms.

Does this slow response time affecte the image quality? Any problem faced if I use this LCD TV as my computer monitor.

Thank you very much for your advice.
*
I am using TX-37LX80MK. I think it shares the same specs as the 88MK as well. Anyway I am using it as a PC Monitor too .So far no problems if you're using it via VGA. If you plan to use it via HDMI you might be having some issues though

The image quality is superb , once again it depends on your eyes. Some see 720p as lacking and others even say 576i is superb !. Its all in your eyes and the content of the video !!

Just bought a VGA cable. So difficult to find, cos most stores only have the extension VGA cable and not the Cable to monitor. Hook it up and walah ! PC mode appeared on my HDTV. Vast differences PQ compared to the previous S-video cable.

I told you its much more better then S-Video , its pixel prefect (should be). So get ready and try some HD Trailers out there from Apple. You'll get a shock of your life !

Just bought a new Pana TX-32LX800MK at Homedec yesterday night for a good/reasonable price. Came with free HDMI and S-video cables as well.  biggrin.gif

Got it setup at home and am quite happy with the PQ so far. Except, I notice that the human faces seem to be bigger (broader) compared to the images from my previous Pana 29in CRT. Does anyone else notice this as well?

IMHO, I believe that there is not much of a difference watching Full HD and a non Full HD LCD. It really depends on the size of the LCD and also what do you watch the most. I watch 80% Astro and 20% DVD. So I decided to get the 100Hz model without Full HD. After doing some auditioning with Astro as the source input, I found my Pana having a better PQ compared to Pana models without 100Hz technology. Just my 2 cents after doing some eye-ball research of PQ and price on my own.
*

Ah , I guess the LX800MK comes with 100Hz technology and the abilitly to watch 1080p on it seems to be pretty good . Mine doesn't support 1080p , only 1080i , but movies , etc still look good on 720p aka on HD Ready. Using it for my media center as a primary display , its pretty good.

Like you have said , its up to one's taste and what he/she thinks its the best !

I'm thinking of buying a new Plasma TV for CNY. Now what in my mind is the PV80 model.

Do you guys think I should wait for the new panel which built with double-efficiency technology? Heard that probably out next year.
*
Wait for the 2009 models. I would recommend you to wait as the prices of old generation one would drop. Even if you can't afford the new one , you could grab the PV80 at a cheaper price tongue.gif
