asking all experts in this, i noticed that some 42in Full HD LCD are around 4k. Are these sub-standard displays and worth buying or should I spend my 4k in a better but HD Ready set?

Just found out that Toshiba 32 inch AV500 LCD TV only selling at RM1780 with 1 year risk insurance (theft, fire, lighting). Some more there's an optional RM244 for extended warranty for service & part replacement for free in case of any damage/ malfunction.

Can I conclude few things here? Based on my recent survey in the market.

-- All 32inch LCD only support upto 1366x768 panel resolution and unable to support FULL HD at 1080p natively.

-- Analogue TV Signal quality is similar to Astro Playback using Coaxial and Composite cable respectively.

-- 32inch LCD make no difference with 37inch except the 5inch bigger on panel screen size.

Samsung 5 & 6 series have 1920 x 1080 resolution. are they not Full HD @ 1080p ?

Hi,

Am Noob here..

Wanna ask all sifoo's here on these 3 models. Undecided to get which one..

42PV80
37LZ80
37LX800

Tried comparing in panny website but pening already  rclxub.gif
*
42PV80

eventhough LZ80 is 1080p but the picture is slightly if not better than the PV80. unless LZ800 then might be a different story.
if you're going to watch astro then by all means get the PV80.

Thanks overfloe... I'm still confused.. what about LX800? I think the pricing for LX800 and LZ80 is quite the same and lower than PV80. And the difference is quite substantial.  hmm.gif

Any other sifoo's wanna help me.. please  sweat.gif
*
LX = HD ready. LZ = full HD

someone mentioned that the difference of picture quality between 80 and 800 is huge.. that's why LZ800 is more expensive than LZ80. but comparing LZ80 and LX800 the prices are about the same, coz LZ is full HD while LX is only HD ready.

My gf moving into new house this sunday.

Getting a 42" TV.

What's the advantage of plasma over LCD.

Right now leaning more towards sharp aquas

Between this model, wut are the pros and cons?

LC42A63M - 42" Full HD AQUOS Slim-line Design
Model code lower but the RRP higher than 65M

LC42A65M - 42" FULL HD AQUOS LCD TV

LC42A53M - 42" HD Ready AQUOS with 100Hz
Only HD ready, but highlight 100Hz, 65M not 100Hz?

Is Vierra PV80 any better than above model?
*
A65 is only 50Hz.. for astro, PV80 is better than the aquos, but the aquos is not too bad.. for movies, not sure.. but i think PV80 has better PQ. seen the A65 and there is a slight ghosting during fast motions, otherwise the PQ is good too..

price wise, the PV80 wins.. aquos is more expensive..

the a65 have good colours, at least for a mid-range LCD tv.. however, it is lacking 100Hz. i don't know how this model compares to the older version (a53)

Once you are in the menu, this is the part which is very confusing coz not easy to navigate. Menu change is by pressing numbers on the remote. rclxub.gif

My tv only had 179hours on it.. just a bit more breaking in and then can do proper calibration rclxm9.gif

I think I should take some pics and post it here lah..

To check the panel run time depends on the manufacturer. Each tv has its own way to access the menu.

no buzzing issues here.. probably you should check your mains that connected to the tv. make sure the clips are properly secured.

some ppl set the contrast even higher.. my settings are close to mikapoh.

contrast - 60
brightness - 48
color - 48
sharpness - 55
colour temp - warm

also, i increased the brightness for pioneer DV-410 - +3

looks ok to me, but i'm still waiting for my DVE disc to arrive for more precise calibration.

Thanks bro.. I only feel that the display with Astro is not up to my expectations (which is what I watch most of the time). Thats why wanna ask if u guys set it to something different. How's your set if u r watching astro?
Are there any settings or adjustments I can make to make it look better. I hope the installer installed everything the right way.
*
i too expected much more from astro.. but it's hopeless lah.. astro resolution is very low.. even viewing with 42" plasma doesn't yield good results.. the only improvement can be made is through calibration.. but that's only for colours.. and calibrating the tv for astro is also useless because every channel is different. it may look ok on one channel but not ok for other channels! rclxub.gif other than changing to a better s-video cable i think there's no more room for improvement.. until astro starts to broadcast in 1080p or 720p at least!
