I would like to ask the advice of those who have experienced 1080p here. Is there really any real difference between 720p and 1080p and can one see the visible difference?

I ask because I am planning to buy a 50 inch Panasonic plasma and the price difference between a 720p HD ready and a 1080p Full HD is double!

U doesnt seem to know abt QC. Eventhough it's made from Singapore, Japan etc. They have their own QC (Quality Control). Let say i bought my TV (Panasonic) it state made in China, it doesnt mean is not good. Only the different thing is the features.

I agree with you, but nowadays, everything also made in malaysia or china. Somemore with 5 years warranty, who cares if it is made in Singapore? By 5 years time, plasma prices would be so cheap and you'd probably throw your current plasma. A 42 inch would probably be RM999 in 5 years time.

My 42 inch, only Standard Definition, not even 720p, cost RM10,000 when I bought 3 years ago. Today, a HD ready 42 inch Panasonic less than RM3400 only.

AV amp also like that.. 2-3 years ago 4-5k amp can buang into longkang since dun even have the features of a 2-3k AV amp now (video upscaling, HDMI 1.3, TrueHD/DTS MA etc)..  tongue.gif

everything technology also like that. Last time, notebooks were 10k. My friend even bought RM18,000. Now even RM1799 can get much more powerful one.

Same with handphones.

I am sure in 5 years time, even the 50 inch plasma will be RM999.

come on la. I know you sell egg (michael tan = mai kai tan = sell egg). But RM999 for 50"?

A few years ago, when you were a small boy in school, and could not piss straight, a 50 inch plasma was RM35,000. Today, it is RM5000.

Who would ever think it would drop from RM35K to RM5K in 5 years?

So what is stopping it from dropping to RM999?

My first basic handphone was RM4000. Today, RM80 also can get better ones.

Save the posts that were laughing at you and refer them back to what they had posted when the price of 50" drop to RM 999.

My Toshiba 34" CRT cost RM 9,000.00 15 years ago. What is the price of 34" CRT now?
*
Correct, remember the Motorola StarTac? I bought it for £1699 in UK in 1997. Don't know how much it was here, but now, look at handphone prices. Yeah man, I always wanted a 34 inch CRT TV then.

agree with you. Best pix quality now for Astro is still CRT. So sharp. Until Astro becomes fully digital, CRT is still King.

saw it displayed for sale in Sony Wings KLCc, something like 8-10k dat time...
I think I would still take this heavy beast over a 37 inch full HD LCD.. (excluding the high price)

that's exactly my point, before plasma reaches RM999 it will stop production.

the costs of raw materials (plastics/glass/electronics/packaging)+transport+ dealers&manufacturer profit will not be able to match RM999 target price so it'll never reach RM999 price point. so please dun simply say it will reach RM999...
*
funny, once upon a time I had a friend who swore that handphones will never be less than RM500. He told me about the raw materials crap story too.

Friend, I used to use my company's Mobira Talkman on Atur 450 mobile phone. It was something like RM18,000.

Today, the Rm89 Nokia 1200 is far smaller, cheaper and better yet much cheaper. How come they never stopped production?

My Sony analogue handycam cost RM20,000 too when I first bought. Funny how come can get a Sony hadnycam now for RM800 even. But how come they never stopped production?

You need to start shaving first....
