I went to Denki just now to check out the 50pv80 which many claim here as the best bang for the money now.

I am ready to plunge my moo after reading review here.

When i get there, what i saw is just grainy PQ. I am standing about 3 meter away from the plasma. What is the best distance to view the 50" plasma? The source is dvd through BD player. I refused to view the manufacturer display disc cos that is already manipulated source.

50pv80 owners, can you please share with me your viewing distance and the overall PQ when viewing DVD. Thanks!

I am just asking opinion from the 50pv80 owner. I googled and the viewing distance should be about 3 to 4 meters away.

I tried that but the PQ is still grainy. That is why i want to ask the opinion of the existing owner here.

If you just want to bump your post count, just say so, dont come and act like you are clever or something.

And for the owners of 50pv80 out there, appreciate if you can share. Thanks!

As a general rule-of-thumb, the recommended viewing distance is 3X the size of the screen. So if it is a 50in, the recomended viewing istance is 3 X 50in = 150in. Many debated as what is "recommended viewing distance" really means. For me i like to take it as the minimun distance where you can appreciate the details and quality of the image with the least visible noise. For example, even with a full HD source on a full HD display will look gariny/noisy if you are just 2 feets away..

From my setup - i using 42in PV80 (not really HD), viewed at 3.5m, i would say I'm satisfied with the PQ. If watching astro - still can see some noise esp in local station, but better PQ with other non-local station. Watching DVD (depand on the "grade/quality") hardly any noise if the source is good. PQ with full hd, is the best but can really "lawan" full hd display lah. Cable and connection also play a major roles - get good quality one for better PQ.

The only catch is that it you sit too far, then you will be itching to upgrade to a bigger screen size - I wish i had bought the 50in.. cry.gif

Thanks if i am reading you correctly, 40pv80 at 3.5 meter, the pq seems ok to you.

I am still on the fence on wheter to get 40 or 50. Many agree that bigger is better.

the price of 428 can get me a 50pv80, but for 42" i rather go for 40pv80, cos the PQ diffrence is not really great, and for the price of 428, i can get 2 40pv, one for living and one for master. hahaha...

Well, 40pv will pull me to the safe side (no grainy PQ) if i am seated 3 tp 3.5 meters away. Let me go and try out astro on 50pv80 again at 3.5 meter..

Thanks guys for the cool feedbacks!
