QUOTE(arremie @ Oct 6 2008, 11:38 PM) Not pitch black la...just need to adjust so its not too grayish. If I increase the contrast and lower the brightness will it do the trick? Or is it the other way round. My Sony black level is good so I try to get something similar with the Panny. Using a calibration disc to adjust the contrast and brightness is a good place to start. Also reduce the backlight level or turn up the power savings mode if your TV have those options. Using the top and bottom black bars in movies would be a better guide IMO

I saw the Samsung 40" A650 earlier today, playing Blu-ray Transformers and Kungfu Panda and was really impressed by it. For those of you who have done a comparison of LCDs with similar price and specs, which other models should I be looking at? Called Legend and they quoted me RM5300. Anything better looking than the A650?

QUOTE(slk5538 @ Dec 6 2008, 09:24 AM) show room always use high quality picture source, player and cable to make pictures look nice in those display units. Unless you are some of the elite one who can afford buying original BD or high quality DVD, i suggest you bring your own source such as hmmm ... the jack sparrow made dvd to the show room for testing. But if you can afford the original BD or DVD, then forget my suggestions Actually I saw the Transformers and Kungfu Panda at a friends place. BDs playing through a PS3. Nowadays I only use BDs as my source, can't stand DVDs anymore

QUOTE(kianwee @ Dec 6 2008, 12:01 PM) But 40", isn't it a bit small? At least 46" for FULL HD IMHO. It'll be in my bedroom so should be ok QUOTE(aiman04 @ Dec 6 2008, 01:42 PM) Bro, if you impressed by the 6 Series, you should be awed by the 7 Series. We did a side by side comparison with Sony W Series, really put a big shame to the Sony. My friend bought it for RM5.5k but it's out of stock, have to wait for 2 weeks. Specs here: http://www.samsung.com/my/consumer/detail/...=LA40A750R1RXXMhehe... trying to avoid the 7 series and save around RM1k. But if can get it for around RM5.5k then I will seriously consider it. Which shop did he buy it from for RM5.5k?

QUOTE(samlee860407 @ Dec 21 2008, 01:25 AM) if i got 15k budget on display, definitely i will get a Full HD projector with a good screen >.< Unfortunately for some people that is not an option due to lack of space or a dedicated area for home theater

Anybody did a comparison with the Philips 42PFL7403 before? I was all set on getting the 40" Samsung A750 when suddenly a friend of mine said he did a comparison between those two and found that the Philips looks better so he bought that one instead Harvey Norman quoted me RM5300 for the Philips and Legend quoted me RM5100 for the Samsung

QUOTE(Exarkun @ Jan 5 2009, 11:49 AM) On the subject of 100Hz, no it does not have this feature. Frankly 100Hz taste depends on a person. I myself prefer true cinema speed which is 24fps. In my opinion 100Hz makes movies look like it was shot using a camcorder. Too smooth. Same here. I bought a 100mhz LCD a few days ago but after playing around with it for a day I've decided to turn off the 100mhz function

QUOTE(skyfcmy @ Jan 5 2009, 01:06 PM) Hmm, I don't think we can turn off 100hz unless we talking about HD natural motion or motion flow features that remove juddering effect. The 100hz feature can be turned off on my Samsung A750
