hi guys,

i've just bought a bravia 32S400 over the weekend. just to check with you, what are the differences between composite, S-video & HDMI cable? i'm currently connecting the Astro thru S-video cable, but sometime i still find the image is not sharp enough. is it due to the cable i use or the setting?

any one using the same model? care to advise which is the best setting for viewing of Astro or TV programmes?

thanks so such as i'm really dumb in IT related stuff sad.gif

waha.. information technology = technology related stuff? HDTV is part of technology, aint it? actually i wanted to type electronic related stuff (which i did in the Astro thread), but being too lazy, i typed as IT related stuff

thks for ur input but would definitely appreciate some constructive comments though, hmmm

Sis this is not IT stuff la. We call it AV stuff biggrin.gif . Astro never looks good with LCD panel even with the so called "optimized for Astro" by Sony. It looks the best only with the old CRT TV.

Anyway some improvement can be done by using s-video cable to connect Astro to TV. In term of picture quality, HDMI > s-video > composite but Astro doesn't has any HDMI port so s-video is the best to use. Get a proper branded name cable instead of your "free with TV" cable. You can also adjust the sharpness from your TV menu but too much and the picture will become noisy.

hi arremie, thks for ur reply.. haiyo.. my bad for typing "IT" in my previous post tongue.gif just wanted to thank in advance & explain a little that i'm dumb in hmmm.. 'these kinda stuff''. didnt know that u guys are so sensitive to these 2 letters word cry.gif

btw, when bravia said its optimized for Astro, how does it work? mean they have built in some enhancement in the TV so that we can watch Astro with better quality?

yup. i noticed Astro decoder doesnt have HDMI port too. hmm i shall monitor for a while before deciding whether to get the highly rave Monster S video cable, waha

thks again for ur help biggrin.gif

At least she can differentiate among composite, svideo and HDMI. Most of my female friends just give me a  blink.gif

S-video is the best you can get. Astro sucks on big tv.

No Astro for me. I download HDTV stuff from the NET. Mostly US HDTV broadcast and some HK series (now with HD version). Even 720p version look nice and sharp in 1080p unit.

hmm i saw some TV can view ESPN very clearly, so it doesnt affect ESPN? rclxub.gif
