sampletekk is famous for their White Grand, The Big One and Seven Seas Grand, and some people use Black Grand too. White Grand and Black Grand are Steinway if i'm not wrong, and TBO/Seven Seas Grand are Yamaha C7.
you need either gigastudio or kontakt to run them, do you have one of them? if you want to buy piano library, i recommend Steinberg The Grand 2 (dunno discontinued or not), Synthogy Ivory, Bluthner Digital Model One, EWQL Pianos or Garritan Steinway. all of them don't need any sampler, and will run as a plugin. i heard a lot of good comments of Ivory, Bluthner and Garritan Steinway. i'd go for Garritan Steinway or Ivory, i don't like those sampletekk stuffs. |

thanks little ice for da feedback
actually i 'hav' kontakt 3( u know lah, as a student no money to get real thing after i got my m-audio) but i planned to buy sampletekk due to 50% discount on the coming winter group buy i think. so it's around rm340 like tat..and like the sound very much.. (7CG) ivory i do 'own' it too, like the steinway sound. Best of the best. but it's c7 not that good.. 7CG demo sound better.. Garritan, heard the demo b4, sound good but donno how to get my hand on it.. i don think many ppl heard bout those sampler, hard to ask around..don even hav any distributor or shop selling it or for me to test on.. sad This post has been edited by N33d: Sep 5 2008, 02:30 PM |

QUOTE(N33d @ Sep 5 2008, 02:25 PM) thanks little ice for da feedback well, you can "have" those sampletekk stuffs like how you "got" your kontakt and ivory. actually i 'hav' kontakt 3( u know lah, as a student no money to get real thing after i got my m-audio) but i planned to buy sampletekk due to 50% discount on the coming winter group buy i think. so it's around rm340 like tat..and like the sound very much.. (7CG) ivory i do 'own' it too, like the steinway sound. Best of the best. but it's c7 not that good.. 7CG demo sound better.. Garritan, heard the demo b4, sound good but donno how to get my hand on it.. i don think many ppl heard bout those sampler, hard to ask around..don even hav any distributor or shop selling it or for me to test on.. sad but it's good support them and will keep the development going on. anyway i've tested 7CG, it's not much useful imho, it doesn't sound "that" good like the demo when i actually tested it, but i think something has to do with my keyboard's velocity curve setting as it need more upper velocity range to trigger the brighter sound. it sound soft like a jelly, i prefer something more ommph. also, you need a lot fo RAM and clean HDD to run them, it's very raw in terms of optimization and resource hungry. about the garritan steinway leh, very easy one, you just need to get the money on your hands, then you can get your hands on the garritan steinway. |
