Hi everyone, I'm going to Bandung next January. Where is the best place to stay?. I'd prefer accommodation that walking distance to shopping complex emm.. like our Bukit Bintang maybe.

Thank you in advance.

Try to stay at DAGO area...there are few hotels there, Royal Dago, Mutiara hotel or Holiday Inn.
From here you can walk down and you can see a lot of factory outlets and shops a long the road. Have fun smile.gif

Better hire a car than take taxi. 6 person need 2 taxi. If you take van is better. You can contact Pak Yanto, my regular driver @ guide everytime I go to Bandung. He can speak good Malay with moderate English. His HP number +628156110229.

Added on November 2, 2011, 9:13 pmIf u want to shop till you drop, bring RM5000 or as much as you can. Some of my friends brought RM5000 to shop and finished it off in 4 days. But for me, I normally bring RM2000 to shop, accommdation and other misc money.

i'll recommend u just bring 1million rupiah if ur staying less then 5 days.... wink.gif 5k sounds too much...even my last trip to melbourne i didnt bring that much yet I had much fun tongue.gif

Merging this to Bandung thread soon.

To answer you.. If the electronics made in Indonesia & Indonesian brand -yes it's cheap but so far I can't find any Indonesian electronics there. Those branded electronic - M'sia is one of the cheapest in the world liao except US, SG, HK & few more countries..so no point looking for electronics there
*
+1 do agree that electronic stuff in Indonesia are expensive compared to Malaysia... nod.gif did u go to B.E.P ? or was it B.E.C = mcm lowyat laa... biggrin.gif

I stay at Progo hotel every time I go to Bandung. The hotel is worth your money. Ambience, location, room condition and easy access to most FO around the area. The owner is Pak Herry. If you want his number, pls pm me.

Just came back from Bandung for 4D3N. Weather was ok not hot/humid, occasionally raining but not heavy. Stayed at Harris Hotel and Convention in Kopo southern part of Bandung. Just next to the hotel is the CTlink shopping mall. Apart from that nothing much around the area. Most factory outlets are situated in the northern areas like Dago, Sukajadi, Chihampelas. for those shopoholics recommend you ppl to stay near these places as the traffic is horrendous. Took taxi for the first two days, visited Pekan baru,Jalan Sudirman, Paris van Java, Rumah Mode and surroundings FO. Hired a van on the third day to visit Tangkuban Perahu and took the guided tour down the area and dip into the hotspring. Entrance to Tangkuban perahu will be IDR50K per person and IDR15K for the van to go up. The Guided tour down to the hotspring will be IDR300K for 1hr and if exceed 1hr, you need to pay the tour guide. Beware there will be at least 2-3 person following along and will try to sell souvenir and pester you throughout the hiking, no obligation to buy but if want to buy please bargain. Also went to the newest mall called Bandung Supermal which has the indoor themepark and the roller coaster is at the main entrance of the mall and most shops are branded boutiques such as Salvatore Ferragamo, Bally, Gucci, Aigner.. nothing to shout about

Pls pay exact fee if possible for taxi as well as airport tax because they tend to keep the balance.

Airport Tax is IDR75k, so just set aside this amount.

Anything imported in to Indonesia and if their iport tax regime is higher than M'sia for sure bad. I'm not sure of Samsonite and if it's locally produce in Inonesia - Yes it's cheap but if imported, might as well get it in KL. It's not cheap there.
