Some small write up for the A4Tech G800 Gaming Keyboard...G800, from what you can see here. There was no what we so call blinking lighting or any effect on the keyboard. The A4 gaming keyboard is design so is to let the users come to familiar with the keyboard function easily and without hazel. Due to the many add on button and function, the keyboard its self give us a feel that “Wow! What a long keyboard!” But fortunely the keyboard didn’t give us the weird feeling on its design. Inside the keyboard, there was a weight there which let the hardcore user to worry less of keyboard flying issues while in a games!

The character on the G800 is inscribed using the Laser, so you will not need to worry that the letter on the keyboard can be vanishing for so easy. One of my friend using the keyboard more than 6 year but the character still there compare to other brand name keyboard…I think you also going through this problems…More than that, each character on the A4Tech also done some special treatment to the character which this let the user feel more comfortable with it.
user posted image

If you turn the keyboard around, you can see that below the keyboard it is design that to allow the water to flow out beneath it. This enable the user to wash the keyboard even thou inside the water. With this design also the users’ worriless for water to split on the keyboard since the keyboard is water proof.

In a gaming keyboard, most of the user concern of is the “W, A, S, D” and ““↑, ←, ↓, →” keys. These 8 keys is which those who play most on FPS games felt most important! The usage of this 8 keys can said to be the most keys press by the user in games. Due to this concern, A4Tech special design a rubber Anti-Slip key for this 8 button. Besides promising the users for its long period usage comfortable it also provides the user an Anti-Slip function.
user posted image

The keyboard set also come with the changeable “W, A, S, D” and “↑, ←, ↓, →” keys and the key change tool. Just a simple step, the users can interchange between the rubber Anti-Slip keys with the traditional keyboard keys.

Beside that, this gaming keyboard is design to fit with the Asian people hand size which this is an add on comfortable & ergonomic design to us. With this, we no need to feel uneasy with those Western Fit design and hurt our hand in long-term usage.

user posted image

This time, the G800 come with the extra 15 keys for the user convenient and gamer-friendly. Which those keys is which most the user used in games!
user posted image

Same as previous gaming keyboard series, this time the G800 also come with the keyboard respond time changes function and Keys relocated function. Where the users can speed up the keyboard respond time up to 3 times faster than normal conventional keyboard. While the Keys relocated function enable the users to interchange the keys from “W, A, S, D” to “↑, ←, ↓, →” or vise versa. Or interchange the “Caps Lock” to “Ctrl” position. And also the “Windows” button can be lock from miss pressing while in a games.

Conclusion on this keyboard will be the design, the flexible, the responding time and the gamers friendly function made it a awesome keyboard. With the water proof design, the users can wash the keyboard even thou emerge the keyboard in the water with worry less. The bad point about this keyboard will be its still using the PS/2 connector instead of the USB connector.

I don't know, maybe I'm biased against A4Tech, but I really don't like their stuff. It looks horribly cheap. Sure, performance and looks are two different things, but I'm certainly turned off by their stuff as soon as I lay my eyes on them. Their products tend to be very tacky. Just look at the top right panel of the keyboard, it looks like a kid's toy. Not very impressive at all. The layout and core design is decent, but they could really do so much better for the overall look of their products.

I used to be Logitech users and have similar perception about A4 like what you mentioned here all the while, until March PC Fair I saw A4 released this new model. I took a try......believe me, ....... you will be amze how smooth and how "superb" feel about A4 G800.... It help me go a few level up in the game by using G800.

Even i got a friend using so call Razer keyboard that cost him few Rm200++, after tested my G800, he bag me to get one for him.....

Trust me guys, don't just judge an item from the exterior....performance with your own experience tells......

I just got another of the A4 X7 OSCAR last 2 months......and my Razer Lachesis become my "unit simpanan" and keep in my drawer...

A4 X7 rclxms.gif really did a good job in gaming series !

Haha, I have tried it. It feels alright but keyboards don't make a difference to my gaming, so it doesn't quite matter to me. I got the Reclusa for a bargain and I like it for two reasons. It's backlit and it has macro keys biggrin.gif. Also, about the X7 oscar, I've tried it and I hate it. It feels quite awful to me, and the so called "grip" surface on the mouse feels uncomfortable in my hands. Not only that, but unlike the Lachesis, the laser sensor on the Oscar has poor tracking speed like most other laser mice. But then again, mice are very subjective. Keyboards have pretty much standard layout and all, but mice can be different in so many aspects. I know I'm one of very few, but I absolutely love my Lachesis. I prefer it even to my Deathadder. I have a peculiar claw grip, and the Lachesis fits me perfectly. Also, I've never had any problems with jittering or had it die on me after a cold boot. So I'm happy with my Lachesis, it's my partner-in-crime biggrin.gif.

Also, I never judge a book by it's cover. I was merely commenting that A4Tech could do a helluva lot better with their product design and packaging. Look at Razer and Apple. They make unveiling their products an experience. Considering that the technology A4Tech employs is quite good and they have improved a lot on the reliability issues, all they really need to do now is to make their products attractive to attract more people. For now, I'll stay a Razer fanboy. They haven't failed me, and what I've gotten from them so far I've enjoyed using. Maybe someday I'll get something really bad from them and jump ship. But that day hasn't come yet whistling.gif

PS: I forgot to add. The 3X button and the 180 degree turn button are also completely useless. Horrible gimmicks, to say the least.

A4tech can be better by jus tryin to improve their looks..not all razer products are gud but we cannot deny that razer products are sleek n it catches attention..jus lik wat phantom thief said..lik the keyboard..they can make it look better..meaner..lets take batman as example..way bck duno wat year..batman was lik a kiddo show which was colorful and stuff no doubt stil black n it was made for kids..but the batman now..the dark knight and even batman begins..its so dark n gritty even long lost fans of batman especially adults are returnin to it..

so lik i said..A4 tech's product mayb be world class if razer was to produce the exact same thing but wif betta design..they hav the technology but not the looks yet..the keyboard look too colorful as gamers are already deem kids we do not need anymore gear to make us look lik kids..it shud make us look cool.. flex.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

jus my opinion..but no doubt the price is cheap and it is tempting..for now my steelseries is stil meaner..haha..

Extreior part are always pretty subjective, I m not sure whether A4 Tech should imporve its design or what, in my opinion, Razer is just too simple look for me and in fact, few of our room mates are having similar comment that Lachesis buttons are too soft, not kind of nice to click, but overall, we don't really feel any problem on both quality, design , special features like 180 degree turn, laser tracking....and don't forget if im not mistaken, wink.gif X7 OSCAR is using OMRON switch and Agilent sensor.......both are world's No:1 component brand.....

I think a4 should sponsor their gaming mouse & keyboard in games competition. This can help in build up their reputation. Need let people test how powerful is their gaming stuff then people just will get to know more on them

Hahaha, perhaps. But this is exactly why they need to work on their marketing. Market awareness about A4 is very low, most people just associate it with cheap, lousy products. They don't know that at certain price points, A4 offers some very good technology when compared to other brands. And people won't realise it until they begin to make products which catch people's attention, in other words: products that look better.

Marketing ftw!

Ic...but I would recommended not to use the converter, because sometime there were come keyboard cannot function well after using the converter. Hoping the A4 can considering to change the connector interface due to nows most of the pc in market I can said is already more adapted to USB port as a main connector port. sweat.gif

Cause normally when the keyboard is built in PS/2 connector, I will not advice a user to use converter to convert become USB...This is to ensure that there will be problem free since there was cases where there will be some function that are unable to function well when using a converter...

yes GLASS is a great feature to have (glaser mouse)

but how often we get glass surface.. be realistic..

a mouse like tat would probably sit 90% of its life on the same location... a table..

not sure about u guys, but for me its a potential good news, since i gila o2jam, and have tested many "general" keyboards... most ps2 keyboard can press 7 keys (or maybe even more) simultaneously, while USB has a maximum of 6 keys... razer lycosa claims they can press 9 keys simultaneously, but when i tried it, i can only press 5 at most... well my guess is they can press 5 middle keys+4 arrow keys simultaneously... and they are using usb biggrin.gif not sure about the tarantula though >"<

using G700 currently. the one with the handle biggrin.gif easy to bring to any tourney with this handle rclxms.gif

its cheaper then any other brand and almost as good biggrin.gif

maybe..if you put brand name 1st you should get Razer..but why get something that expensive when a cheap product work well thumbup.gif

So yours is USB? Because I'm a bit concern that the future motherboard won't be producing PS/2 input for keyboard anymore. If your G800 is using USB and not a converter then I think I'll get it. biggrin.gif

Thought you were using it but oh well haha

Even though it could be an advantage but you see other gaming keyboard, they don't even use PS/2 anymore. PS/2 is getting obsolete so my concern here is whether I'll be able to connect it with the future motherboard. TS said it's not good to have a converter for this as it will compromise the performance so I'm stumbled on this.

G800 seems like a good bargain to me, I wouldn't mind with its design layout though.

Which part shiny? The key with the rubber pad on? It's made for gamers to have a better grip on the WASD button. Some people have lots of sweats when gaming.

hi , new user of G800 ,
the feedback were ...

the button a lil messy (guess i am used to normal kb / not used to this kb yet)
and the enter key is small ....

others than that ... the rubber thingy button look , kinda uncool and a lil were texture touching them , but the good news is , u can swap them to normal button if u dun like them ^^

and the button is not bad too , u can feel the typing is more quiet .... as in the tap tap tap sound
and the button is soft and easy to press too (well if u know those keyboard which hard to type even logitech have 1 ... swt)

then the speed function ... well as a improvement , yes i do say ,
can travel ur typing cursor faster , lol ,
but prefer not to set at max , for sure u will overshot , unless u get use to it =p

then to the shortcut function , well i haven\t really try it in gaming , since i am used to traditional keyboard .....

overall a good buy (since i took with mouse and mousepad with rm 99 from allIT) hohoho

It is good with the price.. The key placing and quality is better than those normal logitech keyboard, just they don't have fancy lighting or whatsoever. I own G800, G500, Tarantula, G15, and Sidewinder X6 and thus I can compare with those I have.

I was using tradisional keyboard normally... (from Natural keyboard to few famous brand keyboard which cheap to slightly expensive..)

Due to the my home table keyboard drawer length is short, i had bought a Notebook keyboard from A4Tech.. around RM30 i guess, very nice and comfort... (no num-pad... which i seldom use it @ home), use it quite some time.. (bcos its nice to use and fit my needs)

Until that day i went All-IT, and i saw this combo set - Rm99.90 X7 package.

Immediately i grab and shop for others things...
Went back home tested... on typing document, chit chat, CS, War-craft, NFS, and etc program..

Result = thumbup.gif

i terus tell my GF.... this keyboard is so DAMN nice... and thanks her for pointing that to me ( She said : why that silver box so nice wan.. drool.gif [She's point to the mouse pad casing])

** first the ENTER key might small + space bar key is short.. but after 2 days ++ i already used to it and started to using others extra key as well...

** personally i found that the G12 , G11 , G8 , G9 is very nice for me whistling.gif

3 thing that you would need to think before getting G800 (Got it 2nd hand from one of the forumers few months back smile.gif )

The first is the Space Bar where it does gives problems as ITS VERY VERY short... i mean .. VERYYYYYYYYYYYYY Short.. smile.gif but with frequent usage... already get used to it within 2-3 weeks smile.gif

2nd, enter key is small, but nevertheless.. still ok for me... smile.gif and for myself.. G1-G4 is useful when doing using calculator on this keyboard... +-*/ is there smile.gif logically happy.gif

G6 G7 and G13 is my best friend when comes to coding... i wILL NEVER forget to add ; in my last sentence anymore... haahahahaha

Overall from what i see, mostly they are giving good comment on this keyboard. Those that are saying this bad but cannot point out a specific bad side...compare to Artosa the space bar is really short, but for the pricing wise, the g800 is acceptable thumbup.gif

Just got this few days ago, and I'm starting to get used to the short keyboard and the short enter button which sometimes tend to press the \ button too.

The downsides are, it's using PS/2, short spacebar, short enter. Otherwise, it's perfect. Anyway, to the guys who has this keyboard, mind telling me how to use the key puller thingy for changing the keys?

He meant the built quality of the G800 is not that good compared to Logitech ones. Overall, G800's quality is pretty good to me if you're not a fussy person.

i can said weight is not a problem (some more , its not really heavy at all, but the overall keyboard stabability when put on table was some how much more better than any other keyboard (could be due to its special buttom rybber grib design). No slippery problem at all compare to my previous Logitech keyboard.

The key press feeling is very good and responsive. G15 kind of flimsy in a way, this G800 is some how give me a feel of "in control" and responsive....

different user different preferences

some people use soft amounts of preasure 2 type where others dont.

once u are used 2 ur KB, another KB might require different amounts of preasure and placement

erm, been using this x7 keyboard for half years already, there's pros and cons of this keyboard, basically when you typing on this keyboard, sometimes it might hurt abit the nail part, but its responsive especially when you are playing music games such as o2jam, sdo-x, or audition, not like my current lycosa mirror, can't even press all 7 keys together in o2jam, yet i still like it

There are some complains claimed that the keyboard is not working properly with the keyboard. While others claimed it is working perfectly fine with the converter.

Greetings from Germany notworthy.gif

I have a question about the G800. Is the lengh really 70cm??? i though that the G800 is not longer then a G11 or G15 blue. Cause i have no space for my G15 anymore so i decided to order a G800 but a G11/15 has a lengh about 55cm.

(In Germany the G800 costs about 19EUR = RM 93) thumbup.gif

Thx for the info, i've got the G800 yesterday and tested it a bit. First i love the orange W,A,S,D - keys, they feel great. the keystroke is ok and not too soft. But a few points what i have to complain are:
- the windows key cannot be disabled without changing the W,A,S,D keys to the arrow keys or the capslock key to the strg-key. But i need the W,A,S,D keys for chatting and the strg-key to crouch.
- i can press the keys 1, 2, 3 and 4 simultaneously but no higher Number-Keys. So i cannot buy fast all grenades in CSS for example (there i need 3+4+5).

But after all, the keyboard is fast and washable. So i think it will stay on my desk. (as long as the Roccat Valo does not appear tongue.gif )
