It will be positive news to the market if he steps down. Why? There wont be anymore internal problem in UMNO and smooth transition plan can be executed. Now it is the internal problem and uncertainties that gives the headache.

Wall Street is very volatile at the moment. On friday night it was up about 270 at one point and up till the voting by Congress on the USD 700 billion bailout plan but right after the poll, it start sliding downwards and finished at -100 over points. Sigh, I wonder who is benefiting from this type of market. Dow futures down 160 points now. Bloodbath is coming.. I think. hmm.gif

eh what happend to astro huh..keep on dropping only...any news ah?

could be this, the reason behind the drop..

5076 ASTRO ASTRO ALL ASIA NETWORKS PLC
PT DIRECT VISION

ASTRO ALL ASIA NETWORKS plc ("Company") - PT DIRECT VISION
We refer to our announcement dated 4 September 2008 in relation to Astro’s
proposed participation in a joint venture to operate a pay television business
through PT Direct Vision (“PT DV”), a company wholly-owned by Lippo and its
affiliates (“Indonesian Venture”).

All abbreviations and definitions used here shall bear the same meanings as
those used in the previous announcement unless otherwise stated.

We had announced that pursuant to requests by PTDV, Astro has, as a gesture of
goodwill and in good faith, agreed to continue providing support and services
and granted an extension of the Trademark Licence Agreement up to 30 September
2008.

We wish to announce that pursuant to a further request by PT DV, Astro has, on
30 September 2008, again purely as a gesture of goodwill and in good faith,
agreed to further extend the period for the provision of support and services
and the Trademark Licence Agreement up to 19 October 2008.

The cost to provide services for this period will amount to approximately RM20
million and has already been accounted for in the Group's financial results for
the second quarter ended 31 July 2008 previously announced.

The Company will make an appropriate disclosure on any material development in
due course.

This announcement is dated 30 September 2008.

It looks like some strategic planning and positioning in foreign countries is not properly done or was done to enrich certain people only.

Thus far Astro has been supported at around RM3.00 +/-
For it to drop to 2.68 (a new low I believe) "might" be some insider selling hmm.gif

That surely means more 'tsunami' for Astro..

Do not take the risk of shorting. If something happen and the counter gets suspended for some reason (in other words u dont get to buy back by end of the day), u r at the risk of getting charged by SC..

I still remember my beginner's luck. At the end of 1997 I bought Intria-Wa at 0.08 (10,000 shares). Very less cos I was in my form 6 at that time. By Chinese New Year of the following year (somewhere in february), it shot up to 0.50 and made lot of money for a school boy. I used it to finance my studies at university the following year.. Sigh, those were the days...

QUOTE(gogo2 @ Oct 9 2008, 11:42 AM)
is it illegal now? I remember they let us short stock last time.

KUALA LUMPUR (DOW JONES)--Bursa Malaysia Bhd. (1818.KU), the country's main stock exchange, will allow limited short selling of stocks within the next few months, Bursa Chief Executive Yusli Mohamed Yusoff said Friday.

Yusli said in an interview with DJ Newswires that short selling will not be limited to component stocks of the Kuala Lumpur Composite Index.

"We want to start very conservatively...then we can see how to fine tune it as time goes on," Yusli said, adding that rules are still being formulated for stocks that can be short traded.

By allowing short selling, investors will have an opportunity to hedge risk while stockbroking companies can introduce new products that will ultimately boost trading volumes, he said.

Maybe now they cancel already tongue.gif
*
This news is true.. What Bursa planned was a "regulated short-selling" which has many conditions and not across the board. Only few blue-chips if I am not mistaken and that also via a special mechanism (maybe with cash upfront and so on). Regulated short selling is not for small fishes, that i am sure.
