need some advice..

Senario
---------
I've recently released the female betta together with the male for breeding pusposes and before released I've noticed the below;

- Male made bubble nest
- Male swimming in "S"
- Male dash to female and flares but never attacks
- Female developed vertical stripes
- Female fatter around the abdominal area
- Female puts her head down and kind of wiggles
- Female visits bubble nest and never destroys it

However, when then male touches or rubs agains the female it will sprint away.. I've tried separating them twice however, all the sings that male and female are ready to mate are visible but when they are together the same thing happens..

Question
----------
- Should I permanently separate them?
- Base on the senario, will male and female eventually mate?
- Is it is because a CrownTail (male) and Double tail Plakat (female) can't be breeding partners?

Thanks in advance for your help

Added on September 24, 2011, 8:28 pmTank Setup
-------------
- 15 gallon tank (water filled half - 7 inch high - tank height 12 inch)
- Live plants
- Daun ketapang (provided by friend from Setapak - nest made under it)
- Added aquarium salt

1 word. DONT DISTURB THEM!! DONT TRY TO TOUCH OR SEPARATE THEM.. IF on d 4th day still no egg has been releases then remove the female and re-condition both of them.. CT male? ur male is it very small size? if the male too small then very hard to wrap the female... usually male is bigger than female only can breed.

male length (excluding tail) longer then female however, female body width (excluding fins) wider then male..

with that said, is it good enuf to leave them together and if nothing to re-condition after 4 days or immediately separate?

Added on September 25, 2011, 12:31 pmedmund.. thanks for your advice.. today i see the female practically living in the bubble nest and coming out once in a while..

i also notice that the vertical stripe is darker (black+light brown) unlike before (dark brown+light brown)..

anyway, if they start to spawn will update further.. thanks again edmund..

Added on September 25, 2011, 8:39 pmUpdate..

- Don't know when they did it but eggs are in bubble nest..
- Removed female as male was getting aggressive
- Male tending to the eggs and hope fully tomorrow or the day after it will hatch..

further update if there is progress..

Added on September 27, 2011, 12:04 pmUpdate..

- fry hatched
- male still in tank as fry still hanging on to bubblenest..
- water clear and no algae but bottom can see chunks of dirt (10%)..

thinking to do a water change but fries are smaller then those chunks of dirt and nest might crumble if water level drops however, also considering to DIY a sponge filter.. any suggestions?

Do not add or change water for 2 weeks. Just ignore them 3 days. When fries free swimming then start feeding bbs or microworm.
