Wow I'm slow.... just saw the news.

Its great news to me, eventhough I won't pick another PS3 up. THough, RM1699 is only a rather "okay" deal. What I want to know now if it is the 80GB SKU with PS2 BC or the upcoming core-80GB SKU which is replacing the current 40GB.

I'm placing my bet on the latter though.

Who is joining the SC4 competition btw? I haven't even played SC4 before but was rather big in SC3. So I may join... tongue.gif

QUOTE(Convael @ Sep 1 2008, 05:06 PM)
as much as they would like to promote the game ,
Soul calibur 4 isn't exactly the best game to be put as tournament as of this moment, there are many bugs, and button layouts.

If you are actually into the game, u should have known how tournament in other countries are banning this banning that, ending up destroying the tournament . Namco hasn't release any patch that fix the problems so far.

As for those who think they were good by spamming the AB buttons (default by R1 button )only,
remember you dont' get such options in the tournament for button mapping =), since they only allow button mapping for 1 person.

Would be interesting to see how it will works out, but honestly it will take a SC4 veteran to customize out all the rules ( Which is sad to say, there aren't really much player that take the game seriously on lowyat) .

I really doubt the organizer has put such a long time into the game yet .

Tekken DR 5 is a better option than this one
*
Mind telling me what are some of those bugs?

I've been in SC3 tourneys before, but I doubt it'll be anything the same interms of the rules and regulations. My guess is that they will just do those crappy "seeding" style of competition. Who-ever wins, moves on until the last man standing.

Actually, basically people get into a queue to play SCIV. If you lose 2 out of 3 sets, you need to go back to the end of the queue while the winner stays to take on other challengers. If that winner loses next time around, he'll also go back to the end of the queue. At the end of the 24 hours, the top 8 people with the highest number of wins will be selected for the semifinals.

I'm not sure whether I should post the rules here, or post it as a separate thread in the Console forum. What do you think?
*
I see. How many stations will be set up for the competition then?

Yes post the rules here, this is a Playstation only event after-all.

SIXAXIS controllers stopped production in July, so its a safe bet to say that this will come with a DS3.

Unless of course this is left-over stock way back till before the MGS4 80GB bundle, which seems rather ridiculous anyways.

Safe yourself from the hassle buying from PA, go to Jalan Pasar's electronic shops. That Girrafe HDMI cable is all over the place there, price is about RM35-40 last I checked.

laugh.gif Ownage. RM15 for HDMI cable in Tesco, which Tesco btw? Or applies to all of em'?

BTW, I just tried the SC4 demo and indeed yes there is a rather apparent ring out bug. I was using Nightmare and I used his charged upper-slash and my opponent was actually on the opposite side of the ring out edge(I was on the edge). But some how during in the air my opponent just got a "twitch" and landed outside the ring instead.

Its just a demo, so I can't say for which has the Just frame bug inputs.

Even if they have Malaysian servers, it wouldn't mean much. Because other than PSN games, most other games uses their own dedicated server. So no change there.

If it says it doesn't come with a DS3, it will mean that it is the old 80GB with PS2 software emulation B/C(not the MGS4 US Bundle, which DO come with a DS3).

Either that, or Sony Malaysia wants to screw up the package by only giving the Core-80GB WITHOUT a DS3(which originally it comes with it) to the Malaysian market.

RM1799? While the games selection is rather decent, if they have any love at all for the Malaysian gamers they should have replace NGS and SC4 with Uncharted and MGS4. Of course, being the cheap ass they are, people NEED to purchase these games so they can earn every single dime.

In any case, don't expect anything much from the Malaysian PSN store either. I don't expect it to be updated regularly, I don't expect the prices to be justified and infact.... I don't even expect it to be launched here either(even if it is already said that it will).

Confirmed that they will have the same schedule updates as SG store? You do know that SG store is rather low on content, and sometimes they get stuff early while many other times they do get stuff late(well not as late as EU though).

Updates are also a concern then.....

I can bet that if there is no Malay localisation involved...all updates will be the same as per HK/SG since we are under the same region.

HK maybe got extra content but as far as I can remember...only video contents (like new singer concerts/singles release promo video and their BOBO video series but now stopped already)

In terms of new updates of game releases it'll be exactly as per HK/SG...there have never been once that HK got released first then next week only it was released to SG....

Not asking if there will be malay localisation, even if it does thats fine by me.

What I'm much more worried about is the fact that how regular the updates and how much content there will be when compared to the US and Jap PSN. This is the main point here. Price, it'll be nice if its direct currency exchange from the HK store. biggrin.gif

So this will be the Core-80GB correct? Confirmed?

Then now it becomes a rather "okay" deal. 2 games, 1 DS3 isn't so bad eventhough its RM1799 now.

Counting from outside, the core-80GB will also be priced around RM1350 at most. Add in 2 games which is about RM160 for SC4 and RM140 for any of those Greatest hits titles, will amount up to RM1650+/-.

So basically you are paying over another RM150 for the warranty in Malaysia itself. Indeed, I didn't count in the cash-voucher rebates for the launch though if not then it'll be cheaper and quite a steal for the first last 50 of the first 100 in-line(atleast in a way since you get to spend on other stuff for "free").

Yea I guess RM150 for the warranty isn't an entirely bad thing. Atleast IF(Touch WOOD!!) theres any problem then theres hell alot less hassle to claim warranty.

Granted, I do hope and wish that no one has any problem with their PS3s though. smile.gif

RM160 for SC4? Where do you do your shopping? Last time I checked at Play-Asia, it's selling for RM225.

laugh.gif It would be so nice if they allow people to choose ANY 2 games from the PS3 library.

laugh.gif Thing is there are no games worth picking up on this launch of PS3 in Malaysia.

I'll only show up for the SC4 competition, or most probably not. Since I have never even played SC4 yet(except the demo). laugh.gif

so now, if the ps3 alone is rm1599, no warranty?
only the package(rm1799) got warranty?
they mention one free game, can choose from resistance 2 and what else?

doh.gif

Warranty of course both packages. Both are Malaysian models. Common sense....

Thats actually a pretty darn good deal. Check out the condition of his PS3 first, if everything is fine I don't see why you shouldn't get it.
