Recommended retail price = RM1599.
Hmm. That must mean, can get cheaper than that at shops (competition). |

the original 80GB has extra 2 USB and memory card reader. and PS2 compatibility(not really important though). Why does the launch version cut down on these features? ;( IMHO, its quite important as well to have these features, especially the additional USB ports.

It's not a big problem actually. 2. How many person in this world going to use memory card reader to store games or save game files actually? I think they would rather use pendrive to save it cos it's more cheaper than the memory card nowadays. 3. I don't think those who bought PS3 going to play PS2 games, since it's region lock, and also M'sia have a lot of ahem PS2 games in the market which costs much cheaper than the originals one. |

Is because they think is not really useful to user. Maybe after some feedback after launched. All the new model come with that feature already. Another way is to cut cost. Simple explanation.its to cut the cost of course.. why come with ds3? i think sixaxis much better.. love to drive using those.. haha.. really like using wiimote.. Sixaxis - version 1 for PS3 controller. DS3 - version 2 for PS3 controller and is a vibration add on for Sixaxis. This post has been edited by jehutyz: Sep 11 2008, 09:44 AM |

Just a shot briefing:1) the original 80g is a remake from the 60g with software emulation backward compatible for PS2. 2) the original 80g production has been cease earlier this year to make way for the new, cost efficient 40g. 3) now they remake the cost-efficient 40g into the new cost-efficient 80g. and if you wondering the why the launch version cut down this feature, because it basically the same model with 40 g with additional hdd space & DS3 controller |

Reason for the extra USB slot is simple. If i were to buy a PS3, besides the games i will also install linux and make it into a personal HT thingy. For portability reasons, I would like to have a mobile external hard disk and get some HD content from some other places. Being a computer geek myself, i know for a fact that if you use a USB expander, your USB speed effectively gets slow if its shared with other USB devices. Streaming HD content from the ext.harddisk wouldn't be smooth anymore.
Bottom line: the more native USB port PS3 has, the merrier it would be. |

Streaming HD content from the ext.harddisk wouldn't be smooth anymore. sure more is merrier, but it isnt really a showstopper. You can still stream your HD content with either of the 2 USB ports, configure a LAN network or just copy the files to the ps3 hdd instead. For a usb hub, if you plan to attach hdd, then its best to get a powered one.Bottom line: the more native USB port PS3 has, the merrier it would be. QUOTE(cwl_ykh @ Sep 11 2008, 11:04 AM) it's not about you're willing to pay or not..it about Sony's own Policy.Sony item are covered by Local warranty, not International warranties like some of other brand. even if you put RM 1 Million and ask them to repair the item, they wont do it |
