QUOTE(Bonchi @ Mar 18 2009, 07:58 PM) its good its good...better than replacing HSF lol it cost me around RM10 to lapped it.with a price much lesser than RM10 for this performance...it sure is worth the effort...tho i dont have the guts to lap my proc..but ive done my HSF and now the Hyper is on its way to someone and im waiting for my Titan Fenrir to arrive hopefully tomorrow. |

QUOTE(Bonchi @ Mar 19 2009, 12:51 AM) oh yea..u've used 6 diff grits to lap....usually i use 800>1200 then straight to 2000 (3 is cheaper but takes longer to achieve mirror finish) thats because the deeper scratch thats left after the 800 grit is still there.shouldnt be a prob lol...even if the LED burn...the fan will still work |

QUOTE(Bonchi @ Mar 20 2009, 02:16 AM) eh?....aint the fenrir is a HDT type cooler?... cant wait till saturday so im gonna lapped it tomorrow after friday prayer. heard that its not recommended to lap it as it might break the wall of the copper heatpipes (which supposed to be quite thin). tho ive seen someone did a successful lapping job on his Xigmatek S1284 HDT.....which means it still is possible to lap it anyways..the best of luck with your lapping this saturday tkh 'herself' lapped a HDT type cooler and the result is quite impressive. |

the lapping is done and here are the pic
before after 600 grit after 800 grit after 1000 grit after 1500 grit after 2000 grit how shiny it is after 2000 grit the lapping process is quite easy on this proc as its pretty flat to begin with and i pretty much flat it out only at the 3rd round on the 800 grit. the difference in temp is just around 2'c max on both core but im quite happy with that. |

QUOTE(ham_revilo @ Mar 21 2009, 01:08 AM) afaik, the three top cooler in frostytech look alike the bracket is different.imo most probably from the same OEM. btw, how do you mount your cooler? same bracket as CCF? if not then i might be mistaken this cooler use a thumbscrew to tighten it believe it or not. |
