QUOTE(ham_revilo @ Sep 20 2008, 10:14 AM) that cooler looks nice... what cooler is that? anyway your casing seems a lil small for those hardware and making your cable management harder The cooler I'm using is Thermalright Ultima-90, by the way what u saw from the pic is actually my side panel 120mm fan, just happened to overlap my HSF . and yes i only realized that my case is small after trying to manage cable and comparing my case on other ppl's casing photos but i did manage to make the whole case look less messy, without having to drill holes at the backplate This post has been edited by metsatsu: Sep 20 2008, 07:20 PM

QUOTE(samlee860407 @ Sep 20 2008, 09:37 AM) can anyone tell me whats is the dimension of the stock intel CPU cooler? my case and mobo is restricting me to get a CPU cooler, so i need to get a CPU cooler that is not bigger then the stock CPU cooler in terms of width and length most likely thanks maybe zalman? though it's slightly bigger than stock hsf, but should fit right? Just ordered 3 new fans in LYN. I ordered 2x 120mm Scythe SY1225SL12M and 1 x Silverstone FM123 from butthead012 and lehteck respectively. Will update my temp status once I got the fans and installed them.

I personally would rather go for smaller HSF. it is such a hassle when u r trying to change the hardware when a huge HSF is eclipsing the whole Motherboard. I mean, do both of kw and ccf show huge difference in terms reducing the cpu temp? maybe a couple of degrees difference. to me that is insignificant. especially after having been playing around with many different brands HSF for many years, my conclusion is to go for a DECENT size hsf with good cooling performance. for god sake, just look at the sheer size of kw!!! imagine if u r just trying to change your ram, or trying to shift your optical drive. But of coz all those won't be much of a problem if you have a huge case with plenty of space to work in This post has been edited by metsatsu: Oct 3 2008, 08:06 PM

There is another thread about cleaning hsf in this hardware cooling section, have u gone there and checked it out? For me i only cleaned my thermalright ultima 90i with very long hard bristle brush, which can reach in the full width of the heatsink. Never used any liquid for cleaning the fin

hi guys. after some time i finally managed to get myself some new case fans. I have bought 2X Scythe 120mm fan SY1225SL12M @ 68.54 CFM 1X Silverstone 120mm fan FM123 with adjustable fan speed there were also some mod and upgrade which i have done with my rig. - Replace my HD4870 with a pair of HIS IceQ4 4850 for Crossfire - Slightly OC'ed my Q9450 further from 3.4Ghz to 3.5Ghz - Installed the Silverstone fan at rear and the Scythes at one front and one side panel Here's how it looks like... I will post a screenshot of my CPU temp when i have the time to stress test it This post has been edited by metsatsu: Oct 14 2008, 08:55 PM Attached thumbnail(s)

hey boss. yes the one that i bought SY1225SL12M as stated in the specs sheet, is only 24dBa. IMO, I think it's acceptable in terms of noise level. Won't say it's very very quiet, but the noise level is good enough for me

QUOTE(tkh_1001 @ Oct 14 2008, 10:03 PM) erm...janganla confess kat sini... nanti ramai yg jeles hmm...haev u used the vizo led fan bro? or any silent fan that can be compared? cos last time i kena tipu by evercool spider..... kata 25dba iirc.... tapi bunyi macam enjin sorry bro, I've never used evercool spider. But one thing I can assure is that the noise level is definitely not like a blower. It is quite silent, if u turn on your air con, u probably won't be able to hear the fan noise already.

hard to tell leh, and it really depends on how u wanna use the fan. FM123 comes with fan speed controller, and the drawback is that you MUST INSTALL the controller and with the extra cable that u have to manage. lol, if not, it won't spin at all. but once installed, u can adjust its speed accordingly. as for me, i found my 'sweet spot' (least noise with high airflow) by adjusting the FM123 fan speed. that's the best thing about fm123. Scythe already has a fix 68cfm air flow. thus no controller. 1 connector = less hassle. more over it's very quiet. the only thing i dun like is its appearance.... look like some cap ayam brand from far but overall, i think fm123 is better. Adjustable fan speed and good looking. Scythe wise, it is quiet at the rated 68cfm airflow P/S: FM123 = 7 fins and Scythe = 9 fins This post has been edited by metsatsu: Oct 15 2008, 11:37 AM
