Guys, any recommendations for air-cooler in a bitfenix prodigy with gigabyte h77n-wifi motherboard?

My CM Hyper 101 is sounding like a vacuum with my new I5-3570

Was wondering if its the intel TIM problem or the 3 year old Tuniq TX-3 i found laying around and used hmm.gif

Any recommendations for 80mm fan to replace the one on the heatsink?
*
with fans mounted on top, ur only choice are heatsinks with height less than 150mm. and u have to take into consideration about the ram clearance. i would recommend coolermaster geminII series.

done a little test regarding the effect of horizontal/vertical arrangement and with/without rear fan
Vertical Mount:Attached Image Horizontal Mount:Attached Image

TEST SYSTEM:
Intel Xeon E3-1230v2 (max freq should be 3.5Ghz but Prime95 only using up to 2.9Ghz)
Gigabyte GA-Z77x-D3H
Kingston Value Ram 2x4GB 1600Mhz (Low Profile)
MSI R7850 PE
Thermalright Venomous-X + 2 Xigmatek XAF-F1255
Cooler Master GX550
Corsair Carbide 300r + 2 Bitfenix Specter Pro (TOP) + 2 Bitfenix Spectre Pro (FRONT) + 1 Corsair Stock (REAR)

TEST ENVIRONMENT:
Closed room with ceiling fan + aircond @ 17°C.
RealTemp 3.70 to record min/max temperature.
CoreTemp to record min/max temperature.

METHOD:
1. Start up system;
2. Idle for 10min, take idle temp;
3. Run IntelBurnTest test for 10times @ Very High, take load temp.

RESULT:
Due to my mistake, my CPU has been seriously downclocked. I will post up new test results with properly working CPU soon... sweat.gif

for sure... thumbup.gif it's been around for a long time but still on par with the top all-in-one liquid cooling solution, make sure the mounting on the mobo is firmly secured because it is a heavy cooler

previously i use CM Hyper 101.. noisy. do consider change to H60i or H80i . i change mine to H80i to fit inside bitfenix prodigy case.. cool & silent ~! lotsa remaining space for airflow.

I heard around many people prefer Arctic Cooling PWM fans due to its price and performance.

Now I am thinking to put more fans on my CM 690 advance (top part) with some good performance fans with blue LED to partially light up the super dark chassis.

Is it a waste to put PWM fans for chassis exhaust?
Anyone knows who is selling PWM (tiny 4pins) splitter?

Any recommendations and reviews for fans with LED?
1.) Aerocool Shark fans
2.) Bitfenix Spectre fans
3.) Enermax fans

u can customize the fan splitter yourself from those shop selling small electronics, or u can take a run around lowyat

aerocool shark is powerful but their sleeve bearing will not last long in the top exhaust position. bitfenix spectre and enermax is suitable for the job. flex.gif

other options for low noise, low temp would be the noctua heatsinks. silent fan + great heatsink.

mouting hole for 1150, 1155, 1156 are the same.

both. sleeve bearing are much lower quality than fluid dynamic bearing used by bitfenix or twister bearing used by enermax. sleeve bearing is not recommended to be mounted in horizontal fashion as it will further reduced its lifespan.
