hi jo,
i myself was looking around for some decent guitar with the tight budget >.<
yeah. i believe its because of humidity. but did it effect the sound?
btw. keep waiting for the sifu`s here to comment ( they were very kind^^ )

sticky like oil? I think the satin layer came out. And if so, you've stored the guitar somewhere hot.

have you tried wiping it with a piece of cloth ? if so, how does it look? the same except less shiny ?

yeah, some pics can help too
but the baby taylor should be shinny because it's a satin finish, not gloss
|

eh...sorry...I mean that it should not be shinny because it's a satin finish.
Satin finish is not shinny...If it's shinny like oil, then the satin layer has come out. If so, I think you can DIY by buying a satin spray and spray it back...I think only so if anything goes wrong don't blame me. Anyone else can reassure TS?

I don't recommend finishing your guitar,especially if it's an acoustic.Have you tried rubbing the sticky layer away with your finger?Maybe use lighter fluid with a soft cloth on the layer.

Don't worry. When you peel, you're peeling the satin layer, not the wood.
