It seems everyone complaining about keypad hard to press.
*
i think when they say "hard" to press it means the keys are stiff ....
their "hard" may not mean "difficult"

there is nothing wrong with the keypad, as exshige mentioned, they are strong and solid, meaning not flimsy.
the difficulty only comes in if you dont look at the keys while typing.

read properly la buddy

Back to the table of contents >>>
USB, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi

USB. You pick one of these 3 connection modes in the USB settings of the N79:

    * Data Transfer (Mass Storage USB) – memory cards is available, no drivers required, as your OS identifies the handset automatically.
    * PC Suite – used for device management via Nokia PC Suite, enables all features of the phone, data backup etc.
    * Image Print – no explanation required.

Data transfer speeds top out at around 2 Mb/s. Once you plug the N79 into a PC it starts recharging automatically via the USB cable

*
so lansi for what? for that, you can find your own answers.... mad.gif

i think the word "suck" is a bit too exaggerated.

let me give you my own opinion -

1. the smart cover is nothing great i agree. but at least you can change covers. the themes that goes with the covers is just lame. no patterns, just colors.

2. camera wise - so so? you be the judge - here is a photo taken with no flash. xenon does produce better details and colors (very tiny difference only) but this is a phone and I wont be using it to take award winning pictures - here is my sample taken with no flash. you can always buy the n82 which has xenon but you also be missing out a few things that the N79 have that the N82 doesnt at all. The dual LEDS is darn strong. You cant look at it directly without getting temporary blinded.

3. FM transmitter works. If you are getting hissing sound is because there is a nearby radio channel which is much stronger than your N79. The trick is to get a channel separated from the radio networks. You need to tune to a frequency with just static and then use that for your N79. No bass - again this is a phone not a boom box.

4. darn fast UI. read the reviews everywhere that confirms this. maybe you got too many apps running.

5. GPS - using garminxt now with malsingmaps. gonna try malfreemaps soon which is better for KL

6. I have not try the headset so no comments. Even if it was crap, so what? No big deal.

7. So far I have only "installed" and tried Tetris. For me, playing the games is to kill time waiting for somebody etc. For real gaming experience, get a PS3.

8. Sound - no comment

9. Auto rotate - you either hate or love it but the most important thing is that you have a choice. Its there. You can either turn it off or on.

10. Navi wheel - same as above. Its there, you can either turn it on or off. For me, tha navi wheel is a fast way to search thru your pictures. But to use it to select programs or settings, its easy to miss the intended target as it is a bit sensitive.

11. File manager works as intended. Got no idea why is it a pain to some.

12. No torch function - you cant blame the Nokia or the phone right? The LEDS are there, go buy the program. Its like complaining you bought a PS3 but there is no game in there.

13. This phone is NOT a smudge magnet! Because of the white or gray color, smudges doesn't show so much as black colored one does. If you mean the screen, then tell me which phone is not a smudge magnet?

For something at this low price range, you guys seems to want everything. Actually this phone does have everything. Like anything else, there are pros and cons. Its just which pros and which cons that makes or breaks your deal thats all.

For me, this phone has been great except that my charger spoiled the second day I bought mine. I got a 1 to 1 exchange for the charger and everything is working great now. The browser is really excellent. Surfing is not painful like WM's PDA phones. Wifi is pretty strong. It can detect far away signals. It can play Youtube that my pc fails to even load. No start stop video here but smooth running videos. I can sync all my Notes, Contacts, and Calendar from Outlook. Voice Command works great too and no voice training needed. I dont think you can find a better phone at this price point and at a size this small.

There are certain ways and combination to use your Wifi and Browser for surfing.

At the Home screen -
If you select to turn on WLAN Scanning to On - it will scan and continue to scan even when you are already connected to something. I fear that continue scanning will drain your battery faster. But before you turn off scanning, you must be already browsing the Web, if not the whole Wifi thing will turn off. If you have already set your SSID and WEP address, it would go in from here without asking anymore. Once it has detected the network, it will lock on or you can select other networks if available. To surf the net, you must select the "Cont. Web Browsing". If you go separately to open the browser from the menus instead, you will need to enter the SSID if your network is hidden. Yes everytime. Maybe there is a way to set it in the browser but I havent found it yet.

You can also turn on Wifi and start surfing by selecting the Browser directly. As mentioned above, you will need to select how you wish to connect and to which network. And you will need to enter the SSID everytime if your network is hidden. The wifi will not scan but will lock onto the network that you have selected.

Hinika... me also... got the phone back is the same version 10.046 but the fonts is different lioa. Now at office doing nothing... restoring my contact and calendar... now installing apps.. I notice got a dictionary app lioa

If you got MS Outlook, you can sync the Calendar, Notes, Contacts to your phone and vice versa. Once the data on your phone gone kaput, all you need to do is plug in the wire and sync back from Outlook.

The dictionary apps was there when I got my phone.

y does ppl always comparing the flash?? in my opinion, tat flash thingy not really important.. we dun always use it right. unless in dark condition. for me i prefer not to use flash while taking photos. i rather pickup the light from the surrounding or juz switch it to night mode. if really wanna take some good photos, my advice is carry ur DC with u whenever u go out..
*
i agree 101% rclxms.gif
even with my DC, I hardly ever use flash

coldfission, i cant find how to "mark" to copy. pls explain again.

this n79 is really a powerful phone. i just wish the manuals are better documented. alot of hidden features/buttons not explain. i found 2 for example -

1. press and hold the right soft key (mine still set to clock) will activate the voice command function

2. press and hold the left soft key (messaging) will activate the Message voice reader.

anymore?
