I bet Mike Portnoy used only 1/3 of his usual drum kits and 20% of his talent and skill when he recorded drum part in Avenged Sevenfold - Nightmare album. He stated in an interview :-

"Well, I had to show a lot of respect and restrain but that's OK; I was OK with that. To me this was a very fragile situation and a sensitive situation for the bandmembers who had never played with another drummer and were just fresh in the mourning period. So I had to be very, very respectful of the sensitive nature of this session and I wanted to respect The Rev and pay tribute to him. So, yeah, I wouldn't say it was hard; I had to kind of shift gears from what I normally do. Normally I go in there and do things myself in my own way and I self-produce my drums but in this case I had to kind of just wear a different hat. And because of the circumstances it made it kind of easy to swallow."

His basically point that he was holding back when he recorded his part due to respect to the band.

I'm looking for this :-

1. Youthanasia - Megadeth
2. Killing is My Business (Remastered or original) - Megadeth
3. Any Anthrax first 4 albums
4. Any Exodus first 3 albums and Exhibit B
5. The Final Frontier - Iron Maiden

How much this is gonna cost at Campbell Complex? I'm not gonna but at Acoustic Pertama because it is way pricey.

I don't know at Campbell but Acoustic Pertama surely have, though it will be my last choice because of the price (RM77 - RM88 per CD).

Download la bro..those guys already rich in US..even if you download, not affected them..besides it's old album.

BTW, speaking of Metal, all those new bands are crap..the real Metal is those during the Earache/Nuclear Blast era.

But i like to collect CD and album. It is my hobby as long as i can afford the price. Beside that, i want premium audio quality not some compressed mp3 or FLAC from unknown source. I know those guys are super rich but i'll not support the art of dismantling industry record. As Rob Zombie stated, today lots of demand from people for music but only tiny of them willing to spend on them. I don't want digital download from iTunes replace the physical medium because iTunes is Steve Job money grabbing machine. Some artist stated they only received puny amount of profit when their music is sold via iTunes. Some of them also encourage people to buy straight from artist and didn't recommend people to buy their music through iTunes or any music service provider. Remember artist only gain maximum about $1 per CD that sold. If 10000 album sold, which is very unlikely in this era the band get roughly about $10000, but they must pay the record company, producer, songwriter and divide them per band member. So each member only got like $1000. I don't think they can make lots of $$$ by only selling CD.

i'm from the old skool and lived through the cassettes eras, then cds...and seriously personally i feel buying cds doesnt feel that much gratifying than cassettes since cds sound are just too digital...and the fact that you know cassettes don't last that long make you cherish the cassettes even more...

hence the reason why we still have vinyl collectors up until now...

last week i read somewhere that cassettes are making a comeback in the states...i'm sure that wave will reach our shores soon...time to find back all my old cassettes i guess...but dunno if they still work tongue.gif

But the fidelity of cassette is lower than CD. The sample rate also is lower.

of course...that's the beauty of it! vinyls are perhaps worse...but they do capture the 'raw' essence of the recording even more...sometimes it's the 'hiss' and 'noise' that brings more soul to the music...but sometimes they do sound like crap too... tongue.gif

Metal album much better in cassette format? I don't know i have plenty of casette but they certainly not high fidelity and error prone, if you say vinyl then that is another case. My point is technology has move foward, so there are always new medium for music. But no matter what, you still support the industry by buying the original no matter it is SACD, HDCD, Tape, VHS, cassette, vinyl etc.
