Should be in the Sydney thread. Anyway, I think it is about 4 hours drive from Sydney if not mistaken. You can always take a tour from Sydney. Previously I took a tour and it was like 3 days 2 nights which include the coach and accommodation plus entrance fee to the perisher. If you want a trainer to learn how to ski or snowboard, that would be extra plus you would have to rent equipments either at perisher or at the base of the snow resorts. The tour company will usually bring the group to rent the the necessary equipments. But do check with each tour operator as each company have slight differences. Plus I visited snowy mountain back in 2008 so things might have change

Are there things to do if we opt not to learn to ski?

I guess just relax and walk around. I tried snowboarding for a day and the next day I was just walking around the resort.

Can't recall cause my friend booked it. All I know is that the fee that you paid includes accommodation, breakfast and dinner plus the bus fare and entranced fee. Just that you have to fork out the money for the rental plus meals at the ski resort

If you want to see snow and ski or ski board, go to Melbourne mountain side. Like Mt.Buller.

Saw promotion to Melbourne.

Is it worth going to Sydney for 1 week?

worth or not is depends on your budget. 1 week in melbourne and another week in sydney is doable

Churchill Island Heritage Farm is on Phillip Island and honestly, there is nothing much there.
Just another money spinning tactic to scam tourists lolz!

If you're talking about just Melbourne City and the near surroundings, 3 days is more than enough.
If you are planning to visit the Victoria outskirts like Grampians, Ballarat, GOR, Wilsons Prom then 1 week won't be enough.

if you are not the city type... well... sydney cbd is just cbd.

i would think 2-3 days more than enough, because see opera house, see harbour bridge, go fish market, really that's all you need. sydney surrounding, in my personal opinion, also nothing much. oh... if you do go somewhere in march, mardi gras... biggrin.gif worth a try...

Melbourne, as another forummer pointed out, is the surrounding. so yes, 1 week, thereabout. but if tight... 4-5 days also can geh.
