Free gift is a post card...all kena tipu coz ingat mystery gift is a super great item....If it's so super-duper-ultra-great they would have said it up front just like the t-shirt...this is Marketing 101....do get fooled..

Preorder this game only if

0) you want to support the local distributor of Konami
1) you think you will really like the game and want it real bad that you don't mind paying extra
2) You think paying RM30++ extra is worth it for the extras
3) Got extra $$$ to burn smile.gif
4) Super hardcore Silent Hill fans

Don't preorder if you...

1) Afraid if there's any patch that came out it wont arrive at all since it's Region 3 instead of buying Region 1 game
2) If you're a cheap-ass gamer smile.gif

Personally?

I'm not really into Silent Hill...so gonna wait for review first

In fact, we are hereby please to promote the local original gaming scenes and ensure a give back of premium freebies for the original gaming community. After all, I understand the pricing wise might be not up to your expectation but back to square; the pricing facts are base on the local tax and duty incurred and not least the shipping cost as well. On top of that, this is the SRP "Suggested Retail Price" which up to our guideline here and there is not inclusive the costing of the "Premium Gifts".

Well, we understand; there might be a lower of offering price whichever you could obtain at your favorite stores but our point here is; to enhance the local gaming scenes and encourage more of activities and gaming events in term of consistency ongoing original gaming culture at local market.

No doubt, you are free to purchase the products from your local favorite store at a (*special price) after an appropriate review and consideration before come to the end of your decision. There is nobody could stop you. The products are not meant for the "Pre-Order Program" only, as we have the goods whichever free to purchase from your favorite stores right after the official release date; except no freebies and premium gifts.

Overall, we are wish to see more feedback from you guys and your kindly response are well appreciated. Anyway, we are glad to see a great progressive of original gaming demand at local market and we hope we could organize more activities and event in term to fulfill the local market enquiry.

The feedback is simple....RM219 is too expensive even with the supposed "premium" gift which really isn't that expensive to make. I know, I do events. (Sorry I do not believe that the tax, duties and shipping would cause your overpriced games). I'm all for supporting the local gaming scene but not at these prices especially when I know it's possible to find cheaper alternatives. You would get a lot more response if the price was closer to the current ps3 game market price.

Anything above RM 190 for Asian version of any game can be considered as overprice. Even with the so called gift and whatnot.

You should be promoting the game. Take for example the racing game* promotion that they'd done at the Z* place, RM 100! Now thats what i called a

promotion.

Great to see you guys are positive to the feedbacks given by the forumers...afterall they are the target market...

As you can see the main factor is the price...you guys are asking them to buy the game before reviews are released and without anyone playing the game to tell them whether they are good or not..basically they are taking extra risk since they 'jump in' without looking what's infrom of them....Now you want them to jump and yet you do not give them any incentives...in fact you guys are charging them more and then just throwing down some freebies...

I'm okay with it...but believe me...if the price is right...and the freebies associated with pre-ordering are also there...they will be swarming to go to your place...Bernard's, SCE or GH can't cari makan....

Again personally...Silent Hill isn't my pre-order kinda game...but...if you guys are coming up with pre-order programme for LBP, Fallout 3, RE5, Motorstorm:PR, Rock Band 2, Bioshock, Resistance 2, or Valkyria Chronicles....and you guys also give free t-shirt with competitive prices..I'd plunk down the cash in a heartbeat without any kind of doubt...but then again...all those are not from Konami...

Now one can't expect a distributor to give discount like Codemasters...since they are the publisher and developer of the game...Distributor also have to cari makan and they are not the owner of the game like Codemaster...but as I mention....the price is a bit on the high side...and understand that they are the pioneer...hence the economies of scale isn't there yet to cover the cost...

Yeah, RM 100 is not something that would happen again in terms of promotion prices. But to put pre-order price at that range and to justify it with a

t-shirt and somehow this mystery gift is not that interesting. This game is good IMO, but not as good as MGS4 in public eyes i think. So, that package

doesnt sound like a promotion package that people will be enticed or at least have a look or two.

icon_rolleyes.gif

Adding to the sure hit game that probably suitable for pre-orders in the future; Pro Evo 2009, Killzone 2, Little Big Planet... thumbup.gif

I found a contest to win premium goodies, such as an LCD tv for the MGS4 launch is quite attractive. Maybe Play Interactive can do another lucky draw? Doesn't have to be a TV.

From the MGS4 rationale, it was quite simply spending RM30 extra on the game to get a good chance of winning fantastic premiums. If you think about it, there were around 500 or so people at the launch so the chances of someone winning was one of the top 3 prizes was about 1 in 167 so that's quite enticing.

What do you guys think? Maybe it can be done for future game launches?

I think the priced is too expensive... actually I wanted to say this earlier and I don't think people are willing to pay that price for Silent Hill. You may think people have no problem with that price for MGS4, but you have to know that MGS is a HUGE game and people are waiting years for it. You simply cant put SH in the same league with MGS4, I personally would wait for second hand copy.

Gifts are certainly a bonus but not needed, you may cut down the price by not giving any free gift at all. I'm sure will mind, how many people actually wanted the t-shirt?

Sorry but I don't agree that I have to pay a premium to win anything in a lucky draw. The TVs and freebies can be sponsored by various companies so why pass the cost to consumers (and I'm sure they were for the MGS4 launch). Free advertising for them in exchange for sponsorship. And to use lapaq's qoute..."This is marketing 101". Bottom line is Silent Hill does not have the same fan base as MGS4. While I really like the Silent Hill series, I don't like it enough to pay a premium.

Well, base on the comments above; we noted your points and overall concerns as well. To be frank, we wish we could lower down the price and offer it at attractive pricing as per mentioned (RM 200 & below) in term to target a larger market and of course not to compared to "MGS4" which it has an origin fans base and it is a benchmark of all time best gameplay which beyond our imagination.

Once again, pricing wise might be not up to your expectation but most importantly, we need to set up a guideline in term the basic "SRP" is not overpricing as been offered within the local market. Definitely, we are looking forward for a lower and attractive prices for the future release titles but at this point I am afraid we hardly make it lower than *RM 200*. After all, we are facing different channel of sales; we need sometimes ahead to work with all the relevant parties out there which it needs an appropriate consideration and feedback from all parties involved. Nonetheless, for our position here; we are not engaging directly with the end users and we have to go through various of local retail chain arms to ensure the products are reached to the local nationwide gamers.

For your kindly understanding, as a distributor, we have to cover up the overall nationwide market and our main concern here is; "Retailers" or "Resellers" are among the key man behind the scenes who are covering the market; nonetheless we need to ensure a "win win situation" whereby the retailers or resellers manage to gain their individual margin for a long term business transaction purpose. On top of that, we hardly stop the retailers who are insisting to offer it a high rise pricing or lower offering price in order to adapt or target individual personal consumers base. As per mentioned above, each of us has own perception or business model to target the local market demand. The point here is; consumers have the right to choose or pick their individual favorite stores in term to obtain the products as up to your satisfaction.

Finally and not least, we never top up the pricing due to additional of premiums or merchandises as per attached in the "Pre-Order Program" perhaps it is a "guideline" and our intention here is to ensure a the local original games demand are increasing and of course with a positive support from the local gamers. The "Pre-Order Program", event or activities are all about to attract more of original gamers base and it is proven that Malaysia is not a "Pirated Paradise"; in fact we are moving forward and incline for the original game software.

This is part of our give back to the local original gamers and as per suggested above; luck draw or contest sound a great idea, we will look forward into it and ensure more of positive ongoing activities whichever we could work out for all relevant parties in the near future. Anyway, your kindly comments and suggestions are well appreciated. Looking forward for more of your comments in term to move further in the near future.

Conclusion:- "RM 219" is a guideline of the "Pre-Order Program" which comes with the premiums for the early bird participators only. The pricing structure is standardize but we will work out more attractive pricing in the near future in term to fulfill your inquiries. Your comments and suggestions are precious to us. Feel free to drop your comments and suggestions here.

Good to see some feedback from PI. But unfortunately all I see is excuses as to why you have to have a "SRP" of RM219 for the SH pre-order. All the posts here have been about RM219 being overpriced! Long story short, you don't care what price resellers sell for as long as your "pre-order" is sold at RM219. Sorry but that's not promoting the local gaming scene. It's called lining one's own pocket first. This is not a flame but the hard truth as I see it.

as u listed here:
win win situation:distributor-Retailers-Resellers
it's only covers u guy..and not our gamers..so i dun think so this is the situation/concept which can improve our original game market.

Actually you can't blame Play Interactive for selling Silent Hill at RM219 because even if you order it from Play-Asia, they will charge you US$ 59.90 (~208.24 MYR) for the R3 version. But if you are one of those guys who insists on buying the R1 version Play-Asia will charge you US$ 64.90 (~225.62 MYR), which is even more expensive. So Play Interactive is actually selling it around the suggested retail price range. I am going to get this game but I won't pre-order it just for 1 t-shirt and some "mystery" gift that nobody knows anything about.

i am also gonna get this game, but at a later time, want to wait for some gameplay video, review to come out first.

mostly bcoz SH5 is not designed by the original Team Silent (who developed SH1-4). this SH5 is developed by another company. so.. i think i am gonna wait just a little longer :-)

I'm throwing in RM25 (5 x RM5) worth of discount vouchers in addition to the t-shirt and mystery gift for the pre-orders. Can be used on your next purchases.

SH : Origin are not developed by Team Silent too. But it still a good game isn't it? Well, i don't really being bothered by whichever region it was. I played PS3 for so long, i don't see any differences between any region. The important thing is about storyline and gameplay. That's all to me. Heck to the rest.

By the way, when only stock coming in..? I wanted it........ I expecting it to reach at 30th, but all this public holiday. sigh. Wasted my precious 6 days, and voila, my final exam came. Damn it.
