but normally we see two items in receipt
Gov tax 5%
service tax 10%

which one betul?
*
I don't quite understand your question..

but, the govt tax 5% should be taken out from those restaurant that do not have 3 million sales per year.

it means, they cannot charge 5% govt tax anymore..

What about fast food franchise like KFC, McD, Pizza, etc?
Only got service charge now?

It's funny when I bought Mcflurry for RM 4.10 (base price, no extra charge at all) in Alor Star...but in KL it's RM 4.30.
*
you have to look at the receipt to confirm...

its been quite some time since i visited any fast food outlets.. tongue.gif

Actually, why can self-service restaurants (e.g. McD, Burger King, some food courts) still impose the 10% service charge?
*
good question...

could somebody enlighten us?

Can clarify why NS and Melaka is 0? Including franchise outlets e.g. Mcd, kfc, coffee beans and starbucks?
*
NS and Melaka is 0 because, not even one restaurant in the state are eligible to charge service tax. Means, their annual sales can't reach RM 3 million to be eligible.

Here are some clarification with so many doubts here.
I believe it is the 5% Service tax as mentioned repeatedly in the article. Nothing was said about Government tax.
This tax is not going into the Government's pocket. It is to be retained by the 435 restaurants.
From what I understand, the 5% have to be returned to the government.

Government called it 'service tax'. rclxms.gif

Restaurant called it 'government tax'. rclxms.gif

I hope that there are people out there that can enlighten me on this. tongue.gif

I got this from theedge.

How should I tell the outlet manager that I should not be charge...
*
its up to you really..

do you want to exercise your rights as a consumer?

you can always state your case to the consumer association or the customs but I doubt it will have much use...

good day!! smile.gif
