my tv tuner doesnt work as well, not that i really need it.

tested tith the crapy supplied antenna, outdoor antenna n astro decoder, all detected no signal from the tv tuner.

i have problem on the webcam when i updated the driver with the suggested one at windows update, then i install the original driver back and everything's fine.

the only complaint i have is the sound reproduction sounded a bit 'bassy' even after adjusting the equaliser n all, relative to my good ol nforce2 soundcard (whatever that is). both tested on edifier R351. my unit come with only ADT not x-fi.

yes it's a synaptic n im quite ok with it. not much to expect from touchpad anyway. but i love the gesture scroll feature

hairdryer?

my soft touch buttons at the upper keyboard seems to stop functioning.
anyone know what could cause this?

Added on April 17, 2009, 11:06 amfound the solution after did some googling, just remove the battery for 1 minute or so n then puck back in. but dunno how long this would last.

apparently this is a common problem of Studios user, mainly studio 15 and 17. i just try out their debugging method and it works. it just according to them the problem will reappear.

surely hope that wont happen to our studio xps.

im using vista 64bit, tv tuner doesnt work as well even plugged to astro

i think all antenna supplied is like that.. couldnt ask much.

astro connected to the tv unit using the same antena cable.. so just take that cable from decoder unit n plug to the laptop. i didnt bought SXPS for the tv tuner, though it would be nice if we could remove it from the system config cause i know it will be crappy n i will not even use it as much.

regarding my not-so-bothering tv tuner issue:

past few days dell sent me a DHL shipment slip to send my unit back to them without notify me what's going on. during our last email communication which i already post earlier, the issue was left unanswered on the possible cause of action. i was still waiting for them to propose a solution for that up to the moment i received the shipment slip. since nothing is writtenly stated, i just ignore it since im not planning to let my unit go.

today DHL called me asking whether my laptop is ready for collection and i told them i didnt get any solution proposal from dell yet and did not know what will i send my unit over for. i told them i'll clarify things with dell first n will let them know should the package is ready for shipment.
few moments later dell called me and inform me that they would refund me full amount since nothing can be done for the tv tuner.

now, should i do that? i mean i dont need the tuner anyway, it just im looking for compensation of not being able to use it, not like im hating the whole laptop.

after did some googling i come to conclusion that there's nothing wrong about the tuner. it just dell failed to inform us somehow that the tuner only meant for DVB-T format, which is theoritically it should work with RTM's HD transmission.

so i'll give that a shot first, cant seems to get a signal from my house at damansara perdana but someone manage to get the signal at bandar sri damansara.

so as for now im keeping the unit since it's such a great machine. thanks onyx.

currently at jln yap kwan seng, now picking up signal for the TV.

tested this on IE7 n 8, as well as chrome n firefox, all couldnt work. will try safari soon but i guess since the engine pretty much like mozilla, the hope is thin.
