Damn. I had some problem man. I just installed F.E.A.R (pirated) and when I'm trying to eject, the whole screen freeze for a few seconds and the disc doesn't come out too. I can't even shut down or restart the laptop. zzz. I just replug the laptop to make it reboot. And, it runs some memory checking stuff. That takes a long time. zzz. Damn.

There are several firmware updates (depending on which media drive you have) available on Dell's site, flash your drive and see if that problem occurs again.

Give it a go and tell us whether it works (try using IE, some say Chrome and Firefox won't work at the registration process).

tested this on IE7 n 8, as well as chrome n firefox, all couldnt work. will try safari soon but i guess since the engine pretty much like mozilla, the hope is thin.

Hi sifus!

Just got my xps 16 today! so far very happy with it , just that i'm not used to vista (Previously a desktop and xp user)
So far i love the packaging and i think dell did a great job on the design of this lappy. However, i think the palm resting
area gets pretty warm easily. Therefore, i have few questions to ask you guys

1. Can you recommend me any softwares that are essential to manage and care for the lappy? Friends suggest cpu-z, speedfan and etc
(And is there a way to find out whats the normal tempreture for the processor? )

2. Is there any protectors out there we can buy for this baby? like keyboard protectors or such?

3. I noticed you guys mention frequently updating drivers? i've already updated windows update , but what about graphic card and mobo and all?
how do i do it?

Sorry i just read the instructions booklet and they told me about the dell technology guide , not sure where for it to be found?

Anyway, thanks in advance! yay to xps 16!

Looks like you guys need some links to essential drivers and firmware updates, I'll post them come June/July, a little preoccupied now.
For now, you guys can help each other out and point them to the right direction.

It is for me. Still waiting to buy meself a cooler. Even on balanced power it gets warm. Dell kinda cut cost on the cooling system lol.

A good hardware monitoring software is HWMonitor. Its just for monitoring though.
