You can just upgrade the laptop to the price of 5k and use the 500 rebate, and it'll probably become 4.5k which is only 100 more than your budget.

Dell Malaysia no longer offer TV Tuner & Remote Control as an option for customizing the Studio XPS 16, not sure what's the reason behind it.
Might be the problems faced by some of the users not getting broadcast signals from local TV stations at certain locations.

Well I don't know, I'm a Dell user, although it got the quality, but they put those high-tech thingy at the expense.

Don't have touchscreen, can't twist the LCD Panel like HP.. sad.gif

The HP model TX series is a tablet PC, totally different category. Therefore cannot compare this way.

If you're talking about specifications and not price point, it's debatable.

CPU options:
BENQ - Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor P8700 (2.53GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 3MB Cache)
DELL - Including and up to Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T9800 (2.93GHz/ 1066 FSB/ 6MB Cache) **

RAM options:
BENQ - Up to max 4GB 800MHz DDR2 SDRAM
DELL - Up to max 8GB Dual Channel 1067MHz DDR3 SDRAM **

HDD options:
BENQ - 250/320/500 GB (5400RPM - SATA)
DELL - 320/500GB 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive & 128GB SSD **

GPU options:
BENQ - ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 4650 **
DELL - ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3670

WIFI options:
BENQ - Intel® WiFi Link 5100
DELL - Including and up to Intel® WiFi Link 5300 **

Screen options:
BENQ - 15.6" WXGA (1366x768), 16:9 LED backlight, UltraVivid widescreen display with 220nits, Response Time:8ms **
DELL - 16" 1080p WUXGA (1920x1080)**, 16:9 RGBLED Full HD Display**, average 232.1nits**, Response time: ?

Audio & Mic options:
BENQ - Built-in 2.0W speaker x2 + Built-in Microphone x1
DELL - 7 Watt Integrated Stereo Speakers with Subwoofer + Dual Digital Array Microphones **

Dell Studio XPS 16 can be customized to a powerful machine and in many aspects even better than BENQ Joybook s57; the only thing the s57 win hands down is the GPU, that makes the s57 a boon for casual gamers. BENQ Joybook s57 is a good notebook, I'm not saying otherwise.
For price point, that's a different story. There's always a reason why you pay more for the Studio XPS 16, the technology implemented in this notebook are more advanced plus the leather etc.

correction:
1) PM45 supports 8GB DDR2 as well... i dunno why OEMs like to put max 4GB only... (in fact, even the older PM965 chipset also)

however, some of the pts are debatable as well...

1) C2D T9000 series... a 35W CPU... meaning less battery life compared to the slight (but hardly noticable) weaker P8000 series (25W)
2) DDR3 brings no significant performance gain comapred to DDR2 besides the lower working voltage (1.5/1.6V VS 1.8V). that itself, imho, does not justify the extra cost
3) Wireless WiFi Link 5300, spec wise it's indeed better than 5100 (max 450Mbps vs max 300Mbps), but u need a compatible Draft-N router in order to schieve that speed... most Draft-N router are stil working at 300Mbps...
4) Speakers... on paper the audio system of SXPS16 looks nice... but compared to a set of rm100 multimedia speaker system, it's nothing to boast abt...

i am not saying all these are redundant... it's all up to the user's choice... do away with all these, and SXPS16 is a nice machine to buy, aespecially with Dell's excellent service...

i ve been hunting for laptops lately, and SXPS is on my list as well... if not for a better choice (Asus N81Vp), i would ve probably grabbed SXPS...

1. most probably because of the total ram slot within the laptop.
1. although T series consume more power but if you really want to compare in term of performance, it still take the lead.
4. it's still better right? biggrin.gif

anyway the real advantage of sxps16 is the lcd which no where the benq able to outperform it. the benq might be better on gaming, but sxps16 will win hands down in term of movies.

plus for those who actually render 3d stuff, higher processor is more important than the hd4650 gpu.

Hey guys, I just discovered something. I need some input on this:
In pitch black darkness, try plugging in your AC input to the notebook, observe if there's any dim blinking activity from the LEDs at touch sensitive controls; before you switch on the notebook.

It seems that people can register and download Dell software, not sure if it's applicable to Malaysian customers.

The main link is: https://smartsource.dell.com/Web/Login.aspx...=/web/main.aspx

Give it a go and tell us whether it works (try using IE, some say Chrome and Firefox won't work at the registration process).
