5k+ in 3D Mark 06 is consider decent for today's laptop...
HD 3670 basically fills up the gap between HD 4570 and HD 4650... and considering it's also 55nm (so is the HD4000 series less HD 4860 and HD 4830), it will still be in the market for quite sometime, since TSMC can't ve enough good quality of 40nm chips to even meet the desktop demand..

QUOTE(tarm86 @ Jul 13 2009, 04:15 PM) their waiting for the option with ati hd 4670... for me, if they really want a powerful gamestation, better grab a desktop not a laptop... no matter hwo powerful the gc, it always not enough and not as powerful as the counterpart for desktop.. as for me, the gc we're all using now is sufficient for whatever im doing well, it all depends on how u want to balance cost, performance and mobility...

QUOTE(kengsim @ Aug 12 2009, 03:00 PM) I'm looking to buy the Studio XPS 16, but has there been a better offer than this week's price? I was just told by Dell ppl that the lead time is 2 weeks... that's a bit long, but I'm willing to wait. I'm looking at the RM4,199 config with a few upgrades (4GB RAM, P8700, 2 yr warranty, WiFi 5300). up to u... but now everybody's going crazy abt the free upgrade to HD4670...

nah, my guess is that only Hybrid Power is working... GeForce Boost cannot use at all... but the funny thing is, iirc, 9200M is a dedicated GPU with 8SP, while 9400M is an integrated GPU with 16SP... meaning the integrated graphic is even better than the dedicated one...

QUOTE(hrd @ Aug 21 2009, 10:21 AM) yeah, they should give 9400M dedicated memory (128-bit bus GDDR3) and i think it should rival the 9400M + 9200M. but i'm wondering the overall power consumption. which is better i heard that gaming with 9400M + 9200M is choppy. maybe not all games support the Geforce Boost thingy. 9400M alone is smoother. becuz if 9200M and 9400M works in GeForce Boost, only 8SP+8SP are working... and remember for dual GC, 1+1 do not give u 2, so overall performance is even worse than 9400M alone... thus the lowly 2k+ 3D Mark 06 that's a reason y Dell throw in a 9500M GE into the SXPS13 now, since it's also got 16SP like the 9400M... this config should give u abt 4k 3D Mark 06... that's y i am confused y Dell would put a config where an ok integrated GPU to go with a dedicated GPU that's even lousier than itself...

i am using Catalyst 9.8 for Vista x64 for Radeon HD4000 (read: not Mobility Radeon), modded with Mobility Modder to work for mobile cards...

i would say WiFi Link 5100 is a downgrade from the previous 4965AGN... since 5100 can only do G and N connection only, thus limited to 2.4GHz... 5300 and 4965AGN can connect at 5GHz and thus, more stable, faster (on N only) and further...
my Asus laptop also got the slot, but i think it's pre-configed by Asus not to include the modem... i ve peeked inside before and can see it's empty...
