It's using dynamic driver, hence the long burn in time. 300 hours is consider little imo, headphones do take even longer.

That hole is for the dynamic driver to 'breathe' in order to produce bass, cover it and there's minimal bass.

It's a mic used for mobile phones, pdas, smart phones etc which have the mic jack in the headphone out hence using a 4 channel 3.5mm jack instead of a normal stereo which is a 3 channel jack.
