Hi,i'm quite interesting in some stocks in US stock market,so my friend recommend me Zecco trading, www.zecco.com, with zero commision charged if your total investments are above USD2500, attractive! However, i'm stuck when i were filling the W8-BEN form for tax purpose. Non-US citizen are not eligible to get SSN or IRA number, moreover i have no tax obligation in Malaysia, is that means i'm not eligible to invest in US? Is there anyone who had filled this form before?

Thanks for your reply. smile.gif

If that so,how bout the blanks in 7 and 8 in part 1? Besides that, the tax treaty benefits, part 2 are all confusing me, are we just need to leave it all blank include the part 3?

QUOTE(howszat @ Aug 26 2008, 04:34 PM)
Fill in 1, 3, 4, 5.

3 = Individual, 5 = if required.

Leave 2 blank unless you are a corporation (but doesn't sound like it smile.gif )

Leave 6, 7, 8 blank.

Fill in 9a. I'm not sure what you mean by "no tax obligation in Malaysia". If that means you are not yet earning an income, put in Malaysia anyway because that is where you pay tax when you do have an income.

You need to sign and post the copy - a fax is not accepted.
