If they have revision 2 for this cooler, and fixed all the issues you mentioned, than that means this cooler is really perfect then tongue.gif. Since now it is darn cheap (include fan, thermal paste) unlike some other brand which the heat sink itself is pretty expensive (exclude fan).

Just bought a CCF from tkh smile.gif. Was really nice doing business with him.

Anyway, just some "journey" I went through installing the CCF.

My mobo MSI p45 platinum really give me a freaking hard time installing. Due to the creative design of the NB heatsink, it makes my life even harder to install the ccf. First problem would be the metal bar hanging on the heatsink that needs to tie up with the bracket. I could not have any clearance in installing the ccf no matter how i turn it. ( I made alot of measurement for my mobo, surf Internet for dimension of ccf, calculate the dimension and so on making sure ccf can fit into my mobo. My calculation was all perfect , but I missed out that small little metal stuff that needs to cling onto the bracket. damn..)

Anyway, back to installation process. I finally able to forcefully install the cooler, though the fan is actually facing down which means blowing air from the GC up to the top of the casing (which is sucky for my case air ventilation). In the process of pushing the pin down , finding angle and so on, I managed to have some minor cuts on my fingers thanks to the "creative" design of the NB heatsink, which is very sharp.

Though all the process was tough, but the end result was somehow happy. The idle temperature compare to stock hsf does not impress me since it only drop 4c (stock hsf : 51c, ccf = 46c-47c). But the load temperature was somehow intesting. Stock hsf on stock would actually boost right up to almost 80c where else ccf maintain it at 60c - 65c (impressive).

Conclusion :

If you have MSi p45 platinum , you can consider other brand of cooler as it would take hell lots of time and pain to install it, not the mention removing it ( I removed it 1 time due to misplacement of the heatsink sad.gif )

One question, the way I apply the thermal paste was actually putting it a straight line on 2 of the heat pipe. Is that a recommended way ? thanks alot

Well, it cant actually, now the metal bar thingy is actually "kissing" hard with my NB heat sink =="

Well , for me both ways also will kiss it. The method (fan blowing upward) will touch the heat sink but then still manage to install it after using some force (which result in putting a minor cut on my finger). Should get Killer whale instead sad.gif . But the performance of CCF for full load is really wonderful. I overclocked my q9450 to 3.5ghz ( vcore 1.27 ) idle at 47c, full load max 65c using prime. I wonder if the fan blowing towards the back might result in better temperature ..hm

erm if psu on top the psu shud be able to take some hot air away... try get ur casing more ventilation tongue.gif

i heard lasst time from a forummer he slap a fm123 to it n get 4c improvement iirc...
*
Dont think my PSU able to take the hot air away, cos my psu does not have a fan below it. Well still have not installed all the fans for my casing yet. So I believe the ventilation not so good. Was thinking of changing the fan as well, but the stock fan that comes along with CCF seems pretty powerful already, unless I can something more "oohm".

Yesterday night did an IBT test run of 3.6ghz on 1.28vcore. Max load was 77c , non air conditioned room. Hope can break 4ghz barrier using air cooling =="

PS: Anyone have stacker830 and able to do nice cable management with it ? Unlike CM690 where you can hide most cables behind.

Cos the TRUE was not lap yet. If lapped TRUE will definitely beat the old ultra 120. Whether it will beat CCF or not, I am not sure. But even if able to beat CCF, the degree of difference would not be alot. But the price different is RM100 (this have not include the fan cost, since TRUE does not come with a fan)

If using OEM unit of proc then I wouldnt mind to lap. But currently paying for retail version one, once lapped = lost warranty...

did u mean higher vcore? imo resitting the ccf wont have much difference. at most maybe around 1-2c only
*
That is really very good temperature already rclxms.gif rclxms.gif I cant even get mine idle at less than 44c event no OC.. You should be veryyyy happy with that temperature man ! And one more thing I notice, CCF perform very well at higher vcore, meaning the temperature will not boost too much even at higher vcore. Well thats for me of course tongue.gif

agree on that bro. i also notice that, many top end coolers tend to perform better at higher temp smile.gif

Yea..compare to stock cooler doh.gif doh.gif

My CCF idle almost same with stock cooler, but load temperature differs a bunch.

well, it might help , or it might not help tongue.gif. Lose nothing to try it out since it will either reduce more temperature or will not change at all ..since he is rich..if possible...mount 4 fans on it !!! hehe just jk
