i was waiting for someone to comment on whether this heatsink will fit nicely into a gigabyte p35 board...thanks for the info...but one question, is it necessary to take out the board to install the heatsink? its quite leceh to take it out as u have to unplug all the power cables, sata, ide, gc card, unscrew mobo....zzz
depends on your casing.on Centurion 2 (from CM la) i was using the Albatron PXP35 board and SB CCF - totally cannot, spent 15 minutes. failed. had to remove mobo to install.
now using the same board on Centurion 590 - installed it without removing board.
on the side note, take note of the clearance. in my case, I can't use DIMM 1 slot due to the size of the heatsink and my RAM being OCZ Reaper with that huge sink on top - won't fit la.
some more i mounted it differently from most people. even as seen on this thread, the guys mounted it FAN blowing air towards the back of the casing.
I can tell you that I'm almost dead sure that all boards can use this heatsink on any casing - sure have clearance. just that casing room will decide whether you can mount it without detaching the board.
the thing that is of bigger concern would be the surrounding area of the board, eg capacitors, heatsinks and RAM slot but usually it's fine.
I had it mounted on Albatron PXP35 and ASUS P5K-E fine anyway.
