wish to know how DV-610 CD sound playback compared with a Marantz CD-63MKII KI. deciding whether to get a DVD player with good CD sound or normal DVD plus a dedicated CD player. the player will be in a dedicated stereo room.
currently using a pioneer dv-696, in the living room. thanks. wps |

well, i am fine with the current sound of DV-696, even though it is a DVD player. but have not compared with a dedicated CD player yet. it will be paired with a Stranwood Artemis and Epos M16.
cheers, wps |

with the recent news about Oppo's BD player, it will be more difficult to find a suitable DVD player now...

QUOTE(robinhood @ Jan 21 2009, 02:22 PM) Harvey Norman sellling the Pioneer 410v for RM360. I was there yesterday. Finally chosen the Philips 5996K instead at RM380 (free Giraffe HDMI cable) since it also plays SACD. Besides, the 5996K looks way much better with slim design and better outlook. today i got the 410v thru Desa Home Theatre in low yat for rm360. i prefer pioneer's build quality plus the three year warranty over philips woh...cheers, wps |

QUOTE(robinhood @ Jan 22 2009, 08:10 AM) Anyway, Harvey Norman offered me 3yrs warranty too for the 5996. I think brand is just a matter of perception. Will appreciate if u can give us a short review of the 410v. i bought this 410v is for use in my parents home. they bought a Philips LCD with a free Philips DVD (not sure what model) which does not have HDMI output. will play around with it tonight and see how 410v perform.at my own home, i have Pioneer DV-696. i can say it is great, could play almost all file format, SACD, DVD-A, etc. no problem at all. probably only replace it when OPPO BDP-83 comes out officially, or when i upgrade my non-HDMI receiver. cheers, wps |

okay, tried the 410v last nite, seems to have slight edge in picture quality over 696, especially with upscale images of DVDs. there are no 5.1 out like the 696 tho. of course no SACD nor DVD-A lah.
but for the price i paid, this 410v is great as mainly my folks will be looking at PQ, not really SQ. two thumbs up! |
