hi guys, after reading alot of pages here, seems like Pioneer DV410 is the best choice, multi purpose and can also play JS movie:)
would like to ask since DV610 is a newer version, can it also play JS wihout issue? thanks. |

My 600AV has no problem with divx thru USB. I bet 410 should not have any problem also. Both basically same player except 600/610 can play SACD and got 5.1 analog output. Heck some people at AVR forum use 600/610 firmware on their 400/410.

Of course can....you can even fit it a 'powered' hardisk instead of a thumbdrive.http://www.sony.com.my/product/dvp-ns728hp I bought a Buffalo 2.5 inch external HDD just for it. Bought the Buffalo brand cos' it has a jack to input the 5V and it incl. the cable as well. But do a search in the internet regarding the model you target whether a powered hardisk can work with your DVD player....mine is Philips brand. I think as along as its powered and in FAT32 format, it should work. If yours a USB 2.0 version, might even supply enough power to the HDD. But its best to use a different power supply than rely on the DVD player USB port. But take note, some hardcoded security type external HDD or USB thumbdrive can't be use. |

if you have budget go for Pioneer DV610 if you don't have go for DV410. You can even flash the firmware with customs firmware which you can easily find it on net.
so far i've been using dv410 for about 4 months. everything went perfect including 1080p upscaling. i used the HDMI cable to transport the video to the LCD and normal component cable to the amp for the music, since my receiver is old type without hdmi. one thing that i dislike about the dv410 is: the remote control faulty on the first week i bought. i can't change it since it stated in the T&C of warranty. I called Pioneer and they said somebody will return my call. Until now, hampeh. Yesterday, I called their service manager, Christine. She said that please bring the unit to their HQ. I dunno waht will happen. I will keep updating soon. Stay tuned !! |

eventhough remote control is not under the warranty but after long negotiation and fighting, they found out that the remote control is faulty and it's because of manufacturer defect.
they replaced new remote and i found that the replacement remote has different design with softer keypad. thanks pioneer !! remember that even you did not bring warranty card, and the thing is not under warranty, you still can fight for your right.. |
